Here are a few poems that I have had the chance and honor to read.

The author that I am quoteing has a rare form of Muscular Dystryopy, and is only 11 years old. His name is Matthew Joseph Thaddeus Stepanek, and goes by "Mattie" J.T. Stepanek. He currently has three books published - Heartsongs, Journey Through Heartsongs, and Hope through Hearsongs.

This is by no means restricted to his poems and poetry, but a starting point. Ihave seen such good writing in post on other threads, that I would like to see a place to collect them, and we can share in the beauty of each.

Title: Songs of the Wind

Listen to the wind.
If you listen carefully,
You will hear soft notes.
Listen with your mind and
Heart - you will hear a song.
A soft, relaxing song that
Reminds you of peace,
Harmony, and love.
If you hear this song,
Always remember it.
For if you do,
You can teach it
To other people,
And they, too, will forever
Remember their Heartsongs.

In rememberance of 9/11/012

In rememberance of September 11, 2001, I posted another poem by Mattie on the BBW_Pics thread, called 9-11...2001

Remember the day - never let it be forgotten.

Title: On the Mountain of Tree-Stars

Summer is almost over.
Soon, it will be September,
And then, it will be fall.
And when it is fall,
We can play with all
The tree-stars that fall
To us from up high.
And when the tredd-stars fall
From the sky,
We can build a leaf-mountain.
First, when all
The leaves fall
From the sky,
We put them all
Together into a mountain-pile
Way up high.
Then, we get a string and tie
Them all
Together so that when
The wind blows they won't fly
Away from the mountain-pile.
And last, we cliam
Up the leaft-mountain,
And we stand up so high
Next to the sky,
And then --- sliiiiiiide ---
We slide
Aaaaaaaaalll
The way to the bottom of the mountain-leaf pile.
So when the fall
Comes it will get chilly,
And things will start to fall
Like the season.
But they don't fall
With a boom!
Only they fall
Like a floating leaf, or
Lite a little boy on
The Mountain of Tree-Stars.

he also has a new book called "Celebrating through Heartsongs"

Title: For Our World

We need to stop.
Just Stop.
Stop for a moment...
Before anybody
Says or does anything
That may hurt anyone else.
We need to be sielent.
Just silent.
Silent for a moment...
Before we forever lose
The blessing of songs
That grow in our hearts.
We need to notice.
Just notice.
Notice for a moment...
Before the futures slips away
Into ashes and dust of humility.
Stop, be silent, and notice...
In so many ways, we are the same.
Our differences are unique treasures.
We have, we are, a mosaic of gifts
To nurture, to offer, to accept.
We need to be.
Just be.
Be for a moment...
Kind asnd gentle, innocent and trusting,
Like childern and lambs,
Never judging or vengeful
Like the judging and vengeful.
And now, let us pray,
Differently, yet together,
Before there is no earth, no life,
No chance for peace.
