A while back Gerber made pocket knives with laminate steel blades. These were some of the best blades ever but it seems they no longer make them. Are there any other pocket knife makers out there that make this type of blade?

no idea.
BUT... A friend JUST gave me these two websites as I just bought a pocket knife.

And he is geeky about knives and swords.

here is one:

I thought it was a funny coincidence that you posted this just as I had changed my AV... I am writing a short story which feaures my new pocket knife, a folding (non laminated steel) Schrade (out of business).

I'd start looking here. If they don't have exactly what you want on line, give 'em a call. Their line changes regularly, depending on what's available.

Thanks you two. I loved the laminate steel because it would hold an edge forever. If I can't find one in my price range then I may have to try out one of the new Ceramic Blade knives.

I used to own decent pocket knives, but now I buy a dozen of them for a dollar each at the flea market.

I tried that route but the effort of keeping a cheap knife sharp enough to be usefull isn't worth it to me.

I just can't see paying over $100.00 for a good pocket knife.

I'm still carrying a Buck 303 with 3 blades. Best pocket knife I've ever had. My Dad saw it and commented and I gave him one for Fathers Day in 90. It has been in my dresser since he passed in 95.

I tried to find the old school small Gerber pocket knife. About an inch and one-half blade, black textured plastic handle. Very light. Couldn't find it; must be a collectors item. :)

I also have a treasured stag handle one about the same size given to me by my father.

Sounds like the LST. (The one I'm looking for.) A small thin knife with a Laminate or Composite Blade. I think they stopped making them.

The other knife I loved was a small Puma made in Germany. The blade was a short one, maybe an inch and a half but it kept and edge and was the perfect size. (I have no idea where that knife went.)
