OK all you folks from the Pacific Northwest... this is your chance to chime in on anything that seems important to you.
Oregon is getting ready to vote on the legality of growing, selling and using recreational marijuana... what are your thoughts? It's already legal in Washington state.
Many cities in Oregon have already passed legislation to tax 420 sales before the November vote. Cart before the horse?
Men seeking women, women seeking men... and so on, you get the picture.

So come on... chime in and share your thoughts ;)

Seattle as usual seems to control the reputation and direction of the state, even though the east side is much more conservative. Instead of christopher columbus day they held indigenous people's day. The stupidity and lengths they will go to...I hope they enjoy patting themselves on the back so they can smile at all the 'indigenous' people one day a year and feel good about themselves. How about respecting everyone everyday instead?

I don't know... seems to me that recognizing the "discovery" of a place already occupied by people and glorifying the genocide of those people isn't particularly respectful. How about people recognize their everyday privilege and quite griping about the few concessions we make for people who have been oppressed since the "founding of our great nation.

*nods from the west side*

But at least we are all paying for the expensive football stadium, right!
All of those people are dead. Do you really think a day honoring them makes a difference? Stepping off your high horse is difficult, but you will find those of us down here to be just as civilized and rational as you are. (You general, not specific)

The stadium is fine, I do like our teams to win.

isn't Columbus dead too? Does honoring him make a difference?
No, most holidays are for the living, no one really cares about anything other than if it's a day off or not. My point is that it's all hypocrisy, stop trying to elevate it to benevolent status, so you can feel better about yourself. If you have that much useless time, do something that makes a difference.

Interesting that you make a snide political comment and then get offended when someone challenges that. Easier to attack and accuse someone of being elitist than to recognize your own biases, I guess. I personally agree that doing the token day/month/event actually doesn't help the groups it purports to- but you don't get to sit back and claim to be all that and a bag of chips, either.
Lol, I am certainly not all that or a bag of chips (puffy cheetoes are my favorite). I used to live in seattle, my inlaws are the typical vegan, I'm ok you're ok people. They don't do what they do for any recognition. Even though our views are opposites, I respect that they live according to what they believe in, not the cause du jour.

Gotta BUMP this thread... It certainly has more potential than a place to chat between Story Daddy and Iceprincess12... what say you PNW'ers???

OK then, here we are... a year later. I'm sitting here watching Seattle battle it out with Carolina in the 4th quarter... Not a Sea-hawks fan... don't care who wins. BUT, I do think it's time for a BIG BUMP on this thread. Has to be some Pacific North Westerners who are breathing today... what say YOU??? ;)

BTW... GO EAGLES! :D
