Pluto Under Attack!

pluto can now play with sedna. things are as they should be.

Goofy is larger, walks upright and has a wardrobe. He's got to be a planet.

Yes, I'm sure that many felt that Earth was under attack by Copernicus and Galileo. Science is not always that sentimental, folks. Hate to be a meanie, but get over it. I say that as a friend and with affection, of course. Like it or not, the Earth IS round.

Oh, and to the astrologers who base their "careers" on telling people how their lives are influenced by the PLANETS, all I have to say is...

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

Round? That would mean half of all people would be falling off all the time. Don't be ridiculous.

It's because Pluto's orbit often ventures inside Uranus.

Is that Pluto the small dog, or Pluto the large rock?

Nevermind.

You are kinky either way.

We are in mourning here on Pluto. For nearly 80 years our "rock" has greeted visitors to the solar system, not unlike greeters at Walmart. We were promised a raise and a partner...now, we've been demoted. :(

We're round just like all the other rocks in the inner part of the solar system. We orbit the sun, abet a little strangely, but we are part of the system. We've done our best. But Earth always seems to get employee of the month.....

The wake will be held all weekend. Pour out a little beer for our ex-planet.

I never liked Pluto.

I never liked the planet, either.

The BBC report last night referred to Pluto as a piece of space rubbish.

The Times suggested that some smaller planets should be called Plutonian.

If Pluto is a planet, so is our moon. The moon is larger.

So they got it wrong in 1930. Isn't that what science is about - constantly questioning how things are? Several scientists in 1930 considered that Pluto should not have been classed as a planet. They have eventually been proved right - until someone else suggests differently.

As a friend pointed out yesterday and someone pointed out in this thread, this news will "rock" the astrological world....:) Could it be that astrology is based on faulty intel? Oh my...

It's not just the size, it's the orbital path that has to be considered. Moons don't orbit the sun, and planets don't orbit each other.

I saw the body spread on that dank stone,
And knew those things which feasted were not men;
I knew this strange, grey world was not my own,
But Yuggoth, past the starry voids - and then
The body shrieked at me with a dead cry,
And all too late I knew that it was I!

I loved Pluto as a planet coz deep down I knew it wasnt really! There are too many hunks of rock out there orbiting the Sun - they cant all be planets but Pluto is and was and always will be a planet to me. Makes no sense? I know!!
