I've recently decided to get back into the swing of writing again and I have one project in mind, but I am completely at wit's end.

Of my few offerings to Lit, my own favourite is Ex-Rated Wedding, only because I spent quite a bit of time polishing it, and I'm quite proud of it, if for no other reason than I'm reasonably sure everything was spelled correctly...

I loved the characters in the story, and I would love to reunite them for a sequel, yet I'm unsure how.

I'm not here to plug my story, so I'll give you a synopsis to spare you from reading it.

A man is invited to stand up as an usher at his ex-wife's brother's wedding. Against misgivings, he reluctantly agrees.
At the wedding he is accosted by his ex, flirted with by his ex-mother-in-law, and meets the newly single female cousin of his ex.

The story is posted on Lit, so the results are pretty obvious.

The question is, since these three women all pretty much despise the lead character to one extent or another, how would all four of them wind up in a story together again?

Any thoughts?

well getting the ladies together for some kind of family do....maybe a hen party or osmething like that would be easy enough...then I guess the guy would have to stumble across them, say in a bar or at a club or some other place....

Erm, otherwise i'm not sure. that's the only way I can see that might work...

hope I helped a bit :)

Since you started with a Wedding, the movie title Three Weddings and A Funeral comes to mind as an overall series plot.

Weddings, Funerals, Significant Birthdays (40,50, 60) and significant Wedding Anniversaries (25, 50) are occasions where "the whole town" might be invited.

What about a christening? Given these are all family members in your story (which was fabulous folks, I highly reccomend you give it a read. For a GBer, he's done a damn fine job) you need some kind of family get-together to, well, get them together. And women and babies is a good combo; it puts most in the baby-making frame of mind. At stud: One Canadian Baby Maker.

Do you charge by the hour or by the, um, deposit?

A funeral would be interesting. It would introduce a bit of black humour to the story.

Thank you for the kudos. (Hey, don't hate a GBer for this but you spelled "recommend" wrong).

How would the guy get invited to the Christening? It would have to be one of those "close friend of the family" kind of deals, I guess. Plus, you have the church to work with, which introduces a nice element.

DAMN IT! That's one of my "words." I can't spell recommend or vaccum (vacuum?) to save my life.

Maybe he's been asked to be the godfather --sorta like he was asked to be the best man. Maybe even by the same guy?

It can't be the same guy. The protagonist had sex with both his mom and his sister...unless they never told him...

...oh, that WOULD be good.

Wouldn't it?

Now get busy. I can't wait to read part II.

So, introduce him to some cousins or aunts also invited to be godparents.

Maybe the Mom and Sister want a rematch?
