I have three such true life cases that I know of. Both have what was to me a surprising feature, each son had built up some resentments of their mom. The reasons are not surprising but in fact common, still the result is that the relations start with some score settling with mom because of those resentments. Still the relationships work quite well and all parties are happy with the result.
