Please, quick question/advice needed

Ok...not to threadjack what's become a thread about a story about flowers but could someone explain the LW cat to me?

I keep hearing everyone bitch about what the readers of that cat are like and I've not been able to figure out what kind of story is suposed to be in the cat because all the stories get slammed by the trolls. The title "Loving Wives" implies, to my mind, a woman who is in love with and devoted to her husband but from what I keep hearing said about the stories they're about cheating, UNloving wives...?

I have no idea, really. And the wife in mine was loving... she tried so hard to be perfect, so hard to be right, and good, and everything he wanted... and he took advantage of it, and expected her to accept it. So she made herself happy. Maybe not in the morally right way, but in the way tat was right for her.

Of course, if the man of the house ever reads this, he will flip.

I think "Loving Wives" means that the wives are going outside of the marriage for "loving." :p

Then why do the readers complain when that's what happens in the story? *really *

'Cos it's ambiguous (said he pompously).

"Loving Wives" says nothing at all about who they are loving, about the sense in which 'loving' should be taken (the spectrum between adoration and fucking around has many, many shades) and it also says nothing about how the husband reacts.

Perm those together and try to map them to the interpretations of readers: the maths will show that most readers with firm preferences will be dissapointed most of the time.

Hey, haven't I a gift for expressing the obvious? <ducks and runs>

TC: It was most definitely meant to be funny, laugh away.

Rora: I think you're right.

Fifty: Heh... Pompous, eh? C'mere and let me spank that out of you!

Everyone: I just submitted "A Certain Way." :D I ran the finished result by a non-Lit friend... his wife dragged him away from the pc screen where she was reading with him with the final IM of - DAMN WOMAN! I'm raping my husband now!

It has a very sweet, light-hearted finish. :D Just like my favorite wines.

C'mere puppy...Mama's got a nice, tightly rolled up news paper for you. :D

Loving Wives....

There are several factions of readers in Loving Wives,

1. The faction that wants to see cheating wives kicked out on their collective asses. And if they don't get kicked out then the husband, along with the author, is a wimp. Someone to be despised.

2. Those who want to see wives being passed around. Wives who go out on dates leaving the old man at home waiting for her to return all used and horny.

Their are several other factions - those who want the husband and wife to have nice "normal" sex together, then there are those who find it okay to include another woman in the mix but not another man. Then there are those that only want swing/wife swap stories.

So you see one story will never please all the trolls in the LW category. This is were the 1 and 5 bombs come into play.

To add a few observations: The husbands are wimps and, therefore, the authors are too. And the wives are sluts.

There are also those who think the cat should only include loving couples. If you post a story about that, it will be bombed by those who disagree.

Writers don't choose where a story goes anyhow. We suggest, and our suggestions are usually taken, but not always. The story might be posted to LW even though you suggest EC.

A query: Why do your two male characters have such similar names?

Oh I sure as hell hope not, in reference to the category thing. I included a very detailed not as to why I submitted this to EC instead of LW, so they knew that there was -no- doubt in my mind where the story should go!

And I have no idea why they ended up with such similiar names... although, when I started thinking about what Daniel was going to look like (I didn't give a damn about David, I literally thought - "Now what would the perfect Nazi look like." because that's how bad he was in my mind) I was thinking about two absolutely beautiful brothers I knew way back in the shadows of time, David and Daniel T. That may be it. Usually, my characters name themselves.
