Please Manu, May I have Cookies That Last Longer Than 45 Minutes in AH.

My cookies are automatically logging me out after 45 minutes in AH. Doesn't happen on the story side. This has been going on for months. When I get an email about a thread update the site does not recognize me coming in from the email link and I have to log in every time. Frustrating! I've posted about it before here.

Just as an ordinary user, I have no direct solution to your specific situation, but can say that after I log in, I have not been logged out by the site, even after several hours. I have Google Chrome, I log in from this page: https://www.literotica.com/, choose 'Stories and Pics', and then log in. I am not set up for receiving emails about thread updates, so no help there. Just FYI.

If I come in to AH from the story side (author panel or story) everything is fine, The cookie persists at least until I leave. But as soon as I leave the cookie dies.

If I come directly into AH there is no recognition of previous activity and I have to log in.

If I mistakenly click off a web page and then follow another thread link to AH there is no recognition of the cookie that was just planted by the previous login.

If I stay on AH longer than 45 min (approx) I'm logged out automatically.

I've found that if I make a point of using the secure browser function (that is, https, not http) then I stay logged in for as long as I want. If I just use http, I get logged out after less than an hour.

Unfortunately, the links that arrive are http. I can change it to https but then I can log in again too. I'm trying a https link right now. I'll see if that's at the base of the problem.

Simple workaround might be to set your browser to always use HTTPS where possible. Depending on the browser this can be done via security settings or by installing a "HTTPS Everywhere" plugin. This is a good idea anyway, as a matter of general security.

Thanks. I wasn't able to set a https default so I installed the extension and it seems to be working.

It's a good thing the members are here to help keep the site running properly.
