Please Help - Where did my story go?!!

Okay over the months me and a number of others have been working on a chyoo story that has now reached a deepest thread depth of 18 I think, and a total amount of posts of fifty-something just by me (again, I think), and many by others.

Anyway, I log on today to approve someone's submission and everything is gone. My story is gone, all threads are gone, my feedback is gone, everything. I still have an account but it's as if it's never been used (I had only worked on that one story).

Now the story - entitled 'The Huge Tits Huge Cocks Family', if you must know, was indeed depraved - but certainly no more than a number of other chyoo stories, and not breaking ANY rules. No-one under 18 for example. All the threads - edited by me - were well-written and all of that. It was, if I may say so, a good story, and a LOT of time was put into it, and not just by me.

I am distraught to find that all this is gone - unsaved as it is by me (it's not exactly easy to save a choose-your-own path story to Word), and beg whoever did this to put it back. I am furious if I have lost it all for good.

Please can I be told why it has gone - and if rules were broken without my realising (although I'm pretty confident I haven't done anything other still active chyoo threads haven't done) then I will absolutely correct the story over these issues in order to save the bulk of the story, even if it means deleting threads. Please do not consign all my hard work to oblivion! If this does happen I know I will never want to write on chyoo again.

The same thing happened two months ago to Population Crisis. I had over twenty threads in it, though many of them I still have, since I write offline, and then cut and paste to CHYOO.

This story had over a two hundred threads.

This seems to be happening with increasing frequency. We need to talk to the server admins about this or implement some kind of backup system. Depending on everyone to hold on to copies of everything they write indefinitely is not practical; there will always be someone somewhere in the story who had an HD crash, isn't around, etc. when a restore is needed. And the more this happens the more people will leave because they can't trust CHYOO not to suddenly delete their stuff. Even the BEA doesn't have a problem like this, and look how disorganized that thing has gotten. But at least there the admins made sure everything works right.

I was going to write some stuff tonight, but if it is just going to go away I have to seriously think about the future of my ideas.

Yes, though it's been over a year since anyone's heard from the owner's of Literotica w.r.t. CHYOO. And it's been 5 years since they started talking about upgrades to the system, which have never been started let alone completed.

I'm using http://editthis.info, a Wiki-Farm, for my interim storage of my threads before I post them to CHYOO. I used to use my personal Wiki for this, but it used PHPWiki and was just too slow. editthis.info uses MedaiWiki, much more modern and fast.

There is a Choose Your Own Adventure site on editthis.info: http://editthis.info/Choose_Your_Own_Adventure. It's not as extensive as CHYOO, but respectable (26,000 pages).

It was one thing when the site was basically functional, if in need of updating. Now, however, the site is actively failing. If nothing can be done here, it is time to move the site to a new, reliable location (and give it those upgrades while we are at it).

I am willing and able to put time and effort towards the production of a new site. I am also willing to do likewise towards the repair and upgrade of this one if someone can get in contact with the admins that have the power and code. Either way, it is time we stopped impotently shouting into the void of the internet and did something, before all of our hard work is lost. Join me, and together we can forge a path to a new future for CHYOO!

In light of the current problems with deltionism, I am backing up John Almighty to the BEA. I'm only copying my own threads, so anyone else who wants to have their stuff copied over should do it or let me know to do it for them (The BEA allows you to set the Author tag however you want, and you don't need to sign up or anything). I'll be double posting both here and there until CHYOO gets fixed or replaced. This is the best solution I have come up with to the problem of stories suddenly vanishing. Not the best, but the best I can come up with.

Still looking for some help with fixing or replacing the current site.

Not to sound harsh or anything but, what do you think people have been trying to do for the last god knows how long?

Someone a few years ago put up CHYOO 3, when no new stories were getting approved. That lasted about a year, when the PTB decided to grant moderator status to several of us authors. Then CHYOO 3 went away because its purpose was done.

Was it Horny-Oz who did that?

We need it again.

The other thing that could be done is for someone to write a script, perhaps Perl, that grabs content from CHYOO and turns it into MediaWiki format files. Then start a CHYOO-Wiki on editthis.info and upload them all.

The CHYOO3 site had a "upload your stories to CHYOO3" script.

I have asked after people trying to repair or rebuild a couple times, but no one has ever responded!! If there is some organized effort, then lets communicate, otherwise everyone is doing the same work over and over.

I have to admit that Wiki format isn't quite what I would call ideal, since it lacks the ability to jump around or view the whole story. I was thinking something like what fiction branches did with it's new version; that type of thing has only a few things that would need to be changed to make it work for CHYOO and it gets rid of many things I have heard people complain about, such as radio buttons and the branch limit.
