After eleven years, I belatedly introduce myself.

I’ve been around literotica.com for a long time, and I first became published here back in May of 2007, yet I’ve never taken the time and trouble to introduce myself to the other authors.

How very antisocial of me.

Honestly, I wish I had introduced myself eleven years ago. The stuff that I wrote back in 2007 was bloody awful. It was lacking in sophistication and style. I’m kind of ashamed that I wrote it. I even wish that there was a way for me to delete some of my earlier works from the website.

However, my work has evolved as the years went on. Part of it is simply the fact that a person improves with time and practice. Part of it is the fact that fans have commented on my work and sent me suggestions and constructive criticisms. Some of my fans are authors as well, and some of the suggestions and constructive criticisms I’ve received really helped my work to improve.

I vastly underestimated the value of networking and making contacts with other writers. Writers tend to be keen observers and have excellent skill at putting their observations into words. I’ve noticed that many writers are part-philosopher as well and have a tendency to look at things from different perspectives that other people might overlook. They have creative minds, fertile imaginations and an endless ability to think outside the box.

I love that.

I am therefore ending my antisocial behavior and putting myself out there.

Please, introduce yourselves. Ask me questions about my writing! Ask me questions about my personal life! Tell me what you like about my writing! Tell me what you hate about my writing! Tell me stories about the most bizarre thing that’s ever happened to you! Tell me about your craziest relative! Tell me about the most bizarre purchase you’ve ever made from a sex shop! Tell me about the time you got into a fight with a duck! I’m in a receptive mood! Tell me anything!

I’m in a very social mood right now. Take advantage of it while it lasts.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste...

Okay, middle class and pretty tasteless.

You see the handle but I go by LC here....among other things:eek:

Welcome...

Writing by nature is anti-social or maybe I just tell my wife that to get out of doing anything social.

I hear you on your original work. I came here in 2010 and when I look at those stories now I cringe.

Took a peek at your stories-hint post a link in your sig, lot of people here are too lazy to look people up- but not really my thing. I don't do non con. I do BDSM, not much here but in other markets, but I'm in the minority of people who write women who are tops and not always submissive and being sold, taken, ravaged, etc...to each their own, your style is actually popular.

You'll enjoy it here, there's a fun cast of regulars.

Just watch out for a guy named TX Rad....he's a dirty old man. Says it right in his signature.

There is. Submit a blank version using exactly the same title as the story you want deleted. Put the word DELETED in the title, and PLEASE DELETE THIS STORY in the Notes to Editor box at the bottom of the submit page.

Apparently, if you list every story title you want deleted in the text page, that works too. I've only ever done single delete requests, so am not sure about that.

Your approach in the last para is all ass about face. Don't expect us to do all the work - you're the one who's gotta make a splash, not us. We're already here. Just join in, we'll get to know you that way. Welcome aboard.

Edit: OK -Lovecraft just proved me wrong. Still, he's a hyperactive American, I'm a lazy Australian.

Welcome aboard. I think your reaction on re-reading you earliest stories is pretty common among writers who have been around for a while. If you want to then there is a way to have it removed from the site. These are the instructions that Laurel gave me, word-for-word.

First, I want to let you know that you have every right to remove your submissions from the site at any time for any reason.

Be aware that we do not store site submission data - including votes, comments, and the text itself. Once it is deleted from our servers, we cannot restore it.

Also know that if you submit a new edit the story, we will post it as new but it will not be eligible for any contests because it is not new to the site.

For security purposes and to make sure you (as the author) are the one making the removal request, you must follow this procedure: log into your account and create a submission titled "REMOVE". In the body of the submission, put the names of the submissions you wish removed along with (optionally) the reason for their removal.

If you want all of your work removed, you can write "DELETE ALL" in one form rather than listing every submission.

If you want all of one series removed, you can write "DELETE [SERIESNAME]" in one form rather than listing every submission.

Submission removals are usually done within 2-5 days.

Thanks for your support, and I look forward to hearing from you!

She gave me these instructions about a year ago and I used them a few weeks ago to remove a whole series. It worked fine.

Welcome to the madhouse. If you're not insane when you get here, you will be after a while. ;)

Rereading old stories is a way to measure your growth as a writer. That is the nature of the beast. We've all been there and done that.

As for LC's opinion of me... I take pride in being a Dirty Old Man. Some of my best stories are about it and because of it. You use what you have.

And yeah, you need a link in your sig line for us lazy people.

You see? This is a PERFECT example of why I should have started networking YEARS ago! I didn't even realize that you COULD post a link in your sig! How do I go about doing that?

Go to the top of the page and look for user CP on the left. Click it and you'll see edit signature. Post your link in the box and click save. Sometimes it takes a little while to show up.

As LC directed, but there are several ways to go about it.

You can just paste the link to your public submissions page. The forum software should automatically change it to a link, like this:

http://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=1049328&page=submissions

For something more elegant, utilize the bbcode.

[url=http://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=1049328&page=submissions]My Stories[/url]

That comes out looking like this:

My Stories

You can copy/paste my code from above, replace the link with yours and the text with whatever tickles your fancy.

Thank you, Notwise (and everyone else who offered up helpful information on how to delete old and disappointing stories from my past). I really do appreciate the advice. This information is extraordinarily helpful.

I love you guys!

Sorry that I didn't welcome you 11 years ago. I must have been busy that day. So ... a belated but warm greeting now. :)

I think that there must be many famous, successful and wealthy mainstream writers who would like to rewrite their earlier work. So it’s only natural that amateurs who write for fun would want to do the same. I read several famous authors who’ve been writing novels for umpteen years and I have, on occasion, gone back and read again books published 20 to 30 years ago and it’s amazing how they’ve improved the quality of their writing. I’ve only had one story published on here and I already wish I could go back and correct it but also, with the benefit of hindsight, improve it by making it longer.

On another topic, LC68, if I’m still contributing on here in 4 years time I would be extremely happy if I could write anything close to Mercedes Bends. I read it a couple of years ago and read it again recently. I’m interested in 5 categories on here, especially BDSM, and look in each category for dominant female characters. I didn’t realise you were in a minority in which case I wish there were more writers with your interests.

Cool! Nice to meet one of the handful of people who read that story:rolleyes:

Now if you like dominant women and we're talking how our writing progresses read my first story Almost Perfect from May 2010. Its about a dominant female and you may like the story and scene....but man the grammar is....far from perfect. I used to look at it here and there and think about editing it, but decided to leave it here for me to say well at least I've gotten somewhat better.

Lovecraft is on the money.

If you write any strong, intelligent female character - in the "right" categories - you're going to get a bucket-load of appreciative fans. It doesn't mean, either, that you have to be in the power-play categories (we've established I don't get non-con, and despite enthusiastic offers of assistance, I'd be faking any BDSM thing - although some people keep wanting to borrow one of my characters...); but write an intelligent woman - especially using words that the imbeciles can see are actually spelt correctly - you'll get a good following.

The trick is to write in such a way that the misogynists (and there are a lot of them) vaguely understand, in the back of their tiny minds, that your female lead is actually far smarter, far sexier, and far more aware of their sexual desires than they are, and they realise that said woman will actually chew them up and spit them out. Before breakfast. Without even thinking about it. Because they can.

Waaait. Are you saying, women can know their own sexual desires, without being told by us? Oh, come on! They're womens! They don't have time to worry about sex, between the patting of kittens and all that cross-stitch! Everyone knows, women are sexless until they meet a mysterious billionaire, who looks suspiciously like a rapist/murderer, at which point they grow a lady garden for the billionaire to play with.

It's simple biology.

I can't believe in 2018 we're still explaining this rubbish.

My stuff from 2007 sucks, too. I left some of it up as a reminder of how little I knew about writing when I started.

I’ve tried to find you amongst the many Lynns without success and not because I want to criticise. At present I’m looking for anything that will help me improve. Would you put a link up or email me please? I put on another thread that I find it interesting to go back and read the earlier work of my favourite mainstream authors that I first bought umpteen years ago and see how they’ve improved with time.

Thanks. Maybe this will help.

Here's one of the very first stories I ever wrote, from early 2007.

Here's one from 2010.

And this is from 2017.

I'm happy with the stuff I wrote way back when. Sure, some of it could be improved, and I've even edited some of them to tweak bits based on things I've learned, but I'm happy with them. Still read back through most everything I've written every so often.

That only pertains to stuff I've written and posted here, though. Some of the junk I wrote before that...

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

I'm impressed I couldn't have done much better myself with this.

Except I would have added barefoot and pregnant and turning into drooling cum dumspters whenever they see the cock of a middle aged loser in the stories where some old guy is beset upon by hot barely legals....cause that happens all the time.

You can even get really creative and make up mock book covers and make them links. You can see that I've done that in my signature. Let me know if you'd like to know how.

And, glad to meet you.

I am likewise very glad to meet you, MelissaBaby.

And I would LOVE to know how to make mock book covers and add them to my signature, but I haven't the slightest idea how that is done. I don't even know how to add images. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
