I think it is one of my favorite movies. It is definitely one of the most inspiring tales I have ever watched on my TV. It is a coming of age movie, with allusions towards racial and sexual tensions, that hits on just about every topic you could think of, and nails each one with poignancy, and an insight that most movie makers would rather shy away from. It's brilliant from start to finish, and has one of the most bizarre, ambiguous, yet genuinely emotional and amazing and truthful endings I can remember. I would really have to recommend that everyone see this movie at least once.

And ABC Family has no idea how to place commercial breaks. they are the worst station I have ever seen at that regard.

I watched that last night, too! Nuttin' else on...

But I do like that little movie. And I love the flaming bush orgasm!

Cloverfield. Seen it yet? If not? DO NOT BOTHER! It's one of my unfavorite movies. It is uninspiring and irritating. It has no plot. Godzilla movies were better, if only because they did not have Alien-like creatures falling off the skin of the main monster or exploding heads after being bitten. STAY AWAY FROM CLOVERFIELD unless you want to be bored to death.

PS: A girl behind us at the theatre said, at the end, that it had been even more boring than Titanic.

I adored Titanic. I'll probably love Cloverfield.

That WAS a good movie. I went to see it in the theaters when it came out as an afterthought and walked out feeling very refreshed, something that most Hollywood "concept" movies rarely make me feel.

I'd also NEVER watch something like that on broadcast television. Commercial breaks never do a good movie justice, never.

Cloverfield fuckin' ROCKED. I dunno what the point of talking about that movie is in THIS thread is, but since you hated it, I'll provide the reality rebuttal for those who like their monster flicks straight up, no filler and without unnecessary cornball bullshit such as stupid background rock music, the family dog "escaping" or tension giveaway orchestration everytime a character looks around the corner of a building gunking up the works.

GO SEE CLOVERFIELD unless you like your popcorn movies utterly suspenseless, paint-by-numbered and spoon-fed to you, like Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem.

Oh please oh please, stop talking about Cloverfield. It is one of two movies out now that I don't want to hear anything about until after I have seen it (the other being No Country for Old Men). And I probbaly won't see either until they are on DVD, so please, please, please stop talking about it? (Don't talk about No Country for Old Men either, I'll smite you! ;) )

The burning orgasm tree is one of the best things EVAR! I love how the daughter had to teach her "mother" about how to have sex, or to pleasure herself. Classic role reversals there.

Loved that film as well, although I have to say that my brain managed to spoil it for me a bit by thinking too hard about the ending. Wouldn't (spoilers in white) Tobey Maguire get in trouble for the fact that his sister has mysteriously disappeared and the only explanation he has is that, "She went into the television"? I, personally, would've stayed in the show. He seemed to have a pretty good life being set up there. Although, to be fair, we didn't get to see much of how real life Mum was in comparison to Pleasantville Mum.

Well, to be honest, we don't know if his sister really existed in the first place, or if her disappearance would be noticed int he real world, or if her return would be spontaneous as if she had never left. It's that ambiguous. We really have no idea how that all worked out, which is part of why I love the movie.

As well as his mother in the TV. Who did she end up with? Does it really matter? Will she end up with both? It could go any way, and I would be happy, because it would all be good.

It's very good - and surprisingly dark.
