Since in many part of the US (and the world) may be having record temperatures, is anyone playing hooky? I called in sick, jeez I feel just awful, better stay home and get well.

Oh the fact that the weather is 70+ degrees has nothing to do with it. I would hate to spread my disease to others <smiling wickedly>

:D :p

I am not playing hookey.

I work an academic calandar and am on spring break. How unusual to get nice weather when I have a week off with the kidlings!

Cool!

It is spring break here, and I have to work this week. I am saving my vacation for my trip to the UK, to see Bluespoke. My teenager is off, so I gradually caught something from her...don't know what it is...cough, cough; sniff sniff

Ebony<that's my story and I'm sticking to it!>

As much as I'd like to, I have a meeting I have to attend and some traveling to do. Ahhh, well, I need the pay check!

I took the day off work...but I can't play hooky as I was volunteered by my 17 yr old to drive for a field trip today. Sheesh...me, and a van full of 17 yr olds...could the day get any better?

You know Murphy's Law.

Now that's a visual!:D :D

I'm on spring hiatus, but in another 2 weeks its back to the salt mines.
Playtime, playtime!!!!!

I'm actually sick today. (Really, this time it's true.)

This is the perfect day to play hooky too. I could be walking in the sunshine, cruising around the local shops, having fun.

Instead I get to sit inside all day and try to hack my lungs up.

:(

This option could be fun too.

As much as I'd like to take off just because the weather is good, I never can bring myself to do it.

If I was going to though, today would have been the perfect day!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, were you one of my employees that called in sick today? Just to give the other side 'O the proverbial coin.......the "Owner" of the company also wants to "ditch" work sometimes........however if I did that often enough......perhaps playing hooky would morph into being unemployeed because the company folded......

Also, I live in Southern Cali.....where the weather always tries to take US away.......from our responsibilities........

Smile

as much as i would like to play hooky i can't not til school gets out (ironic hua?) considering i have to log over 600 hours at the hospital in order to graduate in december i would say i am pretty much out of the loop

I found the best way to score yourself a three day weekend is to start pretending to be sick on Monday.

Monday... just have a little tickle in your throat.

Tuesday mention your tummys been feeling funny...guess it must be something i ate and clear your throat alot like its phflemmy.

On wedensday pretend to be very cold and mention really bad headaches and bump into a few things like your out of it..

By Thrusday make several unneccesary trips to the bathroom and mention diarrea and by the time you call in sick friday morning your boss'll be so glad you took the day off he'd probably just tell you to anyway.

This trick is good for one free three day weekend every six or so months.

if you're really good try to stretch it out to four...

I sort of do in boy scout kind of way...

While I have an office I opt to work at home most of the time. On nice days I'll take a break and go outside - use the cell phone to make a call or two - maybe have a mini-cigar. More like a break than hooky.

I'll probably end up doing what I did last summer - I have a wireless card in my laptop - I take the laptop and phone on the deck and work outside most of the day.

The problem with this is I fall into the habit of smoking too many cigars...

Oh I smoke all sorts of mini's... I like the regular sized ones but they can take 2 hours and during the work day I can't play hooky for that long!

I smoke macanudo minis (robusto sometimes). Partega minis...

I've also acquired a taste for the cheap raggedy looking smokes called Backwoods - have you ever seen them? They come in tinfoil pouches. Very unsuave. *lol*

Of course I play! I have a good long stick that I use to smack the puck around, and it's got a wicked curve...

Oh.. What?? Hookey??

My bad.. I thought this was "Playing Hockey!"

And I've only played that once.

I don't have that liberty. If the class is unimportant, then I will play hooky to sleep, but for no other reason.

If I ever feel like I need a day off, then I'll simply ask my boss who is usually good to give it to me.

But then I work at a job I really enjoy and have fun at, so the need to get away from it is rare.

I don't usually. That's how I messed up in my 11th grade year, playing hooky so much. Of course it was usual to watch my darling sibs while my Mom slept in, but still.

Now if I try that I'll end up playing catchup for the rest of the year. I certainly don't need that.
