Christmas is approaching fast this year but it seems the years are getting to be more like a blur they go by so fast these days! I don't have time to track Santa...I am too busy tracking packages from Amazon..lol.

Christmas shopping will be done next week, along with shopping for wife's birthday - it's the 23rd. I do it either the week before or week of Christmas, get some super sales!

As for New Year's, we don't go out on "Amateur Night." Far too many stupid drunk drivers on the road, far too unsafe!
 
I agree on the New Years Eve amateur night. I have worked numerous New Year's Eve nights and people are STUPID......it's the one night of the year I really don't enjoy working.

My grandmother worked in an ER for over 40 years as a nurse. She would always work New Year's Eve and New Year's morning. We loved hearing her stories from the ER during Sunday dinners. We, however, never asked her about New Year's eve.

My sister is an RN who's frequently asked to come help out on New Year's Eve. One year, she and several of her fellow visiting nurses with trauma and/or triage training road along with paramedics. She said it was the WORST night of her life, understood why her friend, a paramedic, would close himself off New Year's Day.
 
It's a night the kids sleep in the floor, and we watch movies, or dance ...have our own little party and enjoy little snacks.

We did that, too, when our son was younger, had some of his friends over and they'd whine until I made No Bakes LOL

This year, we're loading up on the junk food for DVD night.

Not something I share often but it did make national news. New Years Eve a few years ago was the first and only time I had ever had my life threatened while at work and the first time I was scared for my life. To this day I can't believe the police officer that came to my aid showed restraint and did not shoot the man. I continued to finish the shift and dealt with more idiots the fet of the night

I never understood the need to over-drink on New Year's Eve. Maybe it was because we had to attend church the following day. New Year's is a holiday of obligation for Catholics.
