Brett in the afternoon

Hiya PGers.

Welcome to our thread SxyTiger - you and I have something in common - our birthdays are only one day apart [ although a number of years separate us ] Anyway, enjoy.

I am kinda - ehhh today, but that has to do with reaction to my latest submission, which was not good. The readers completely missed the point.

Hope all are well.

Hi Brett! :D
I'm sorry you didn't get the reaction you were hoping for. Which story was it? You have sooooo many. :p

I'm doing good now that I have some caffeine in my system. I missed work today. I couldn't sleep, and when I finally did (an hour before my alarm) I slept thru it. Oh well.....

Yeah - the latest was my 69th as I pointed out earlier SHANNON hon. It was "The Awakening of Alicia Chapter 2" - which was intended as a segue to develop OTHER characters in the story - and both people seemed to want to know where Alicia was. Hmmm - you think maybe they could wait and see where I might be going with it? Yeesh.

One common failing I do seem to notice out here is readers trying to anticipate or even tell me where I should take my stories. A suggestion here or there is okay, but would you buy a book in a store - like the HARRY POTTER series - and tell JK Rowling how to end it? I am no JK, but I do usually know where I want to take my stories.

I am just slightly bummed, because everyone seemed to LOVE Chapter One, which gave me my 24th H.

Many people tried telling me how I should've written Sissy's Little Secret, and where I should take the next chapter. I told a couple of those people, because they weren't too nice about it that if they would like to tell Picasso how/what to paint, they certainly could if they were feeling froggy, told em basically that I was the writer, and if they didn't like the way my story went, not to bother reading anymore. These were private conversations, and as I said they weren't too nice about it either. I write what I feel, and if somebody else likes it, fine... if not, to hell with them. I see your point darlin'. Just astonish them with number three! ;)

Well, not everyone disagrees with how it is....I loved it!!!!!

I read both earlier today and I understood where you were going with it.

I understand what you mean. I wrote a story that had 2 parts and everyone asked me where the third part was...LOL

Brett's thoughts

As I said SHANNON hon, I don't mind a suggestion, but why would anyone ASSUME that I had forgotten about the main character? *S*

Oh well, it's my first bad review in a while, so not too upset.

Thanks for the pic hon.

Sorry to hear about your bad review. I hope it wanes as you develop the story. :rose:  (((hugs)))

My first is doing pretty good but I just finished my second. TD said it was good... that my characters are well developed. I don't know how busy you are but I would love your opinion since you write so much so well.... :rose:

I just got back in the house. I left the computer .....

*clouds open and the sun shines down to the sounds of the alleluia choir begins*

(Shocking to leave the cmputer!!! ) *giggles* Anyway, I enjoyed a hot 87 degree day in my warm 87 degree pool. It was a rough day for me but I managed! lol :nana:

NP ANGEL, you know how to send me stories. Lucky you - it is raining here as I send this.

It wasn't a bad review per se - they just completely missed the point.

I am working on Part 3 as I write this, then I want to revisit some other stories. I also sent a new one to my Publisher early this morning.

Comments

I'd like to make a comment on reader's comments. I don't want to sound like I'm stepping on anybody's toes, and I don't want to sound hypocritical either, so please don't take it that way. Many authors don't get the feedback they deserve. The comments, like those posted on this thread are nice, but why not post them in the feedback area of the story also? I am guilty of this, just as much as anybody else, but it gives the authors a moral boost and a sense of accomplishment.

With that said, I'm going to make it point to read and comment on more stories. Off to read the first chapter of Awakening of Alicia.....

Thanks

I always try to offer positive feedback if I like a story, although I haven't been keeping up with my reading as much as I should.

If someone offers me NEGATIVE feedback in a helpful manner, I don't mind.

Glad to see I still have readers though.

I rather refer to it as constructive critisism... and yes, that is helpful as well, but my point is, I think that we, as authors, especially need to make a point to try and support each other, especially those that we consider our friends. I know that it is impossible for us to read every story that is out there, but when we do have the time to read a story, we take a couple of extra minutes to leave a comment. :)

Enjoying the first part so far... ;)

Thanks hon

Yes, I agree. We should be supportive.

Yep, most people liked the first part, I just hope they like the rest of it.

Well, I cant speak for everyone, but I don't think I could NOT like any of your stories.

Thanks for the support

Thanks Shannon, but even I have a few I am not overly fussy on.

One I have often thought about re-writing and replacing - I may just do that one of these days.

I have to admit. I am guilty of that. Sometimes, i have problems putting into words what I want to say about a story. Then I never get around to posting a comment.
