The Demo's are all stressed because the platform committee supports the TPP, and a few of Bernie's ideas. Hillary has bent to the left on a few items, but let's see how she follows through on them.

Rethuglicans are leaning so far to the right as to be horizontal!
Here are 7 radically extreme GOP platform proposals that show they’re way outside the mainstream

2. The Bible is American History:

Despite the first Bible being written in Hebrew and Greek in Mesopotamia and then Greece, the GOP believes that the Bible is part of American history. Further, the GOP believes that the Bible should be taught in public schools as American history, despite the book lacking any reference to the United States.

It seems history books derived from the Bible are preferred, as the platform committee also agreed that today’s school textbooks “are pretty much focused on minority history” so students “get the wrong version” of events.
WTF?

WTF?

If you stretch a point, the Book of Mormon could be considered to be American history. although even less believable than the rest of the bible.

ETA: But the rest of those ideas, if they represent an actual platform, are strictly ridiculous.

It appears that the Repubs will include pornography as a public health crisis in their platform. Will the Lit right wing Whackadoodles be able to 'swallow' this?

what about your party, the welfare party?

Depending on the style and who is wearing them, platforms can very nice.

However, many times a woman ends up looking like she's wearing cinder blocks they're so big.

Yes, I think they matter

But only for the very few people who understand how to read them.

A party's platform is only a sketch, an abstract of what 51% of that party fantasizes about. No political platform is solid enough to justify the word... We should call them a 'tide'.

For the small % of Americans who actually follow politics closely, the platforms can show you what the partisans dream of...

That's about it.

Sure they matter. It is shit like that "the Bible is American History" that leads to the War on Women and Trump.

If I could play a lawyer on TV, I would say "It goes to state of mind, your honor"
The Democratic platform should be informative as well.

In the Lee Atwater "big tent" era of Republican politics, there was a diversity of Republicans. Since the TEA infusion, Rino hunts, and Trump, etc., not so much.

So it looks like the party ( or at least those who are attending the convention rather than the Republicans Against Trump ) has been condensed down to Theocons and Nationalists.
I wondered who was left.

And if the party doesn't have a strong platform come election time, they're going to get hurt or look awful silly when it collapses during a photo shoot or speech.
