My ex-husband wasn't a very bright kid. Once, he was going to heat up some spaghetti-and-meat-sauce in the microwave, and mum told him to use the lid, you know, the plastic lid with a hole in the top?

He complained to her afterwards that the lid was a lousy invention, because he had to keep opening the oven to push the sauce back, or it would run out through the hole.
