We have two poets {Deon22 & FstLove} who have posted the same poem with the same title, separated by two years. What's worse, I searched Google and this so-called poem is all over the net {nearly 100 hits}. UPDATE: That was fast ~ Lit's already begun the process ~ this version's already under review and is no longer listed under poet's submission listing. Hopefully they also pull the other as it probably was just copied off the net a couple years ago. UPDATE2: No action yet on the Deon22 poem which was posted in 2004. An early version of this poem can be found on the net from 2000, in the Surpass Your Dreams Newsletter. Now it's all over the net.

Before Lit pulls it (as I believe it should), here's what one of them looks like:

Believe In Your Heart
by FstLove ©

BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART

By FstLove © 2006

Believe in your heart that
something wonderful is about to happen.
Love your life.
Believe in your own powers,
and your own potential,
and in your own innate goodness.
Wake every morning
with the awe of just being alive.
Discover each day the magnificent,
awesome beauty in the world.
Explore and embrace life in yourself
and in everyone you see each day.
Reach within to find your own specialness.
Amaze yourself and rouse those around you
to the potential of each new day.
Don't be afraid to admit
that you are less than perfect;
this is the essence of your humanity.
Let those who love you help you.
Trust enough to be able to take.
Look with hope to the horizon of today,
for today is all we truly have.
Live this day well.
Let a little sun out as well as in.
Create your own rainbows.
Be open to all your possibilities;
all possibilities and Miracles.

Always believe in Miracles.

:Last year discovered that a poem I have on Clean sheets was also on a persons blog as her own. As I delved into this, I found that she had also taked numerous poems from that site and some of them were LIt authors as well.. I notified the other poets that thye had been plagiarised when i was able. Some had no email address, but eventually, after some communication with the people at the site, she pulled all her stolen poetry. It was a very aggravating situation...

I wish you luck an if I can helo, let me know.

My Wish!!

My Wish!!
By FstLove

I hope that days come easy and moments pass slow, and each road leads you where you want to go, and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.

And if one door opens to another door closed, I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window, if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile, more then anything, more then anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it, to your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more then you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget, all the ones who love you, in the place you left, I hope you always forgive, and you never regret, and you help somebody every chance you get, Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake, and you always give more then you take.

Oh More then anything, Yeah, and more then anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it, to your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more then you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish.

Did a Google search and found that these are copyrighted lyrics!
Check out Rascal Flatts - My Wish.
Rascal Flatts is a country group and here are their lyrics. And still no action from Lit.

And yes, I did notify Lit about the two previously mentioned (Believe In Your Heart). Also did the same for My Wish!!

I did gently pan the first version and ended up describing it as a collection of fortune cookie one-liners. I certainly was never going to add it to my list for posting to my archival collection.

Must be understaffed. Still only one of the 3 plagiarised pieces have been pulled. Just re-reported 'My Wish!!' I'll wait a few hours before re-reporting that piece from Deon22.

And here are the official lyrics from the Rascal Flatts web site, including copyright notice.

05. My Wish
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you’re faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin’ ‘til you find the window
If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything

Chorus

My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you’re out there gettin’ where you’re gettin’ to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish

I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you
And the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you find God’s grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah more than anything

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

Since there was no response to the two pending matters of plagiarism, I've gone and PM'd Laurel, especially in light of the fact that one of the poems in question are copyrighted lyrics belonging to Peoples Choice Award winners, Rascal Flatts.

Good luck.

U_P mentioned she had read a plagiarized poem a few days ago from the Lit new poems list... It may be the same... but I don't really think so (~_~)

I've PM'd her to see what happened. I get a bit intense when it comes to someone passing off something as their original thinking when it's someone else's work.

BTW, My Wish!! has finally been pulled. That piece gave me the biggest concern for Lit as we're talking professional artists, BMI, Sony, lawyers, etc. Compared to that, the Deon22 piece is small potatoes {hint for Dan Quayle - it's only the plural of potato that gets the e}. Assuming he was a fly-by-night writer, I've left a comment on his piece to make it clear that it's not original.

Unbridled_Passion thought there was something funny {odd} about this poem. I went ahead and reported it; it's more a collection of dirty litttle ditties from across the web. It's hardly original. It's more a case of cut and paste. Take a look:

Roses are red
by loves2sukdick81 ©

Roses are red
Lemons are sour
open ur legs
and give me an hour

Kissing is a habit
Fucking is a game
Guys get the pleasure
girls get the pain
10 minutes of pleasure
9 months of pain
3 days in the hospital
A baby with no name
The baby is a bastard
The mother is a whore
This would have never happened if the rubber hadn't tore!

Sex is like math
Subtract the clothes
add the bed
Divide the legs
and pray to god u dont multiply

roses are red
grass is green
open ur legs
and i'll fill u with cream

Hickory dickory dock
this bitch was sucking my cock
the clock struck two
i dumped my goo
and dumped her to the end of the block

Sex is good
sex is fine
Doggy style & 69
Just for fun
or gettin paid
everyone likes gettin laid

Sex is evil
sex is sin
sins are forgiven
so stick it in!!!

roses are red
violets are fine
u be da 6
and i'll be the 9

Some time back I had given a nice comment to something from Mohawk Valley Girl. Pat pointed out how it wasn't her own work. There might have even been another of her submissions called into question. You can't recognize everything you see here. Sometimes you hope that someone has actually written something that good.

In any case, I think it was several months later and MVG went and submitted something that was also plagiarized. I even questioned whether her bio was for real!

The point is, we all have to watch what is submitted, whether reviewing or just commenting. Someone is bound to notice something odd and help to weed out these frauds.

Does anyone know who originally wrote these?

I often wonder where those email jokes I get at work come from. (Sometimes I want to read more of that author.) I once asked the sender of some and he said he was just passing on what others sent him and didn't know.

Try that great invention, Google. Take the first couple lines from each strophe, enclose in quotes, and do your search. These damn things are all over the place. For example:

"Roses are red Lemons are sour"
"Kissing is a habit Fucking is a game"
"Hickory dickory dock this bitch was sucking my cock"

Some of the results returned will show much more than just the particular strophe you're inputting.

It's obviously not great poetry, but the damn thing's not original either.
