Plagiarism

"What a Birthday Gift!" is an outright theft of a old story from another web site. It is a classic and was definitely NOT written by the person who submitted it. Shame, shame, shame!

It didn't take you long to find them Killer. http://www.inceststories.com was the first place I looked. That's one site where those stories have been for quite a while. They were also on http://www.xxxstories.com but I can't find them there now. <Mostly because I refuse to abide pop-up screens and re-directs.> Literotica is about the only place I go for adult literature these days but I remembered these from long ago.

I emailed Laurel with the facts.

Don't worry, Laurel is very good about this sort of thing. She's no doubt checking things out thoroughly right now. Contacting authors sometimes takes time.

I've contacted the author. I also have a couple of copyright search sites I use for just this purpose. With these sites, I can paste in a story and it searches the web, outputting a list of pages that have similar text, along with a percentage of how closely they match. In this way, I can find plagiarism even if the plagiarist changes the character names and moves the words around.

I put all of this author's stories through both of my copyright searches and came back with no matches. Usually, if a story is ripped off the Usenet or other sources, it will come up at one or both of these sites.

Someone wrote to me regarding these stories (I think it was you TigerTales), and I asked them to send me links to places where these stories have been previously published. The link on this site doesn't resolve for me - it goes to a "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" message. The sooner you can send me a good link, or at least a screen capture of the page on which the story is published or something so I have some information to go on, the sooner this can be resolved.

We are staunchly against plagiarism, and respect all author's copyrights to their work. At the same time, I'm wary of making accusations against authors without some information on my side. Many authors write under multiple names and are posted on multiple sites. Hope you understand, and can get me the info I need! Thanks!

This is not the first place I ever read the story. I know very well that I read it long ago on another "free site" that is now a pay site. So, having no way to prove that it is a theft - I suppose I should apologize and concede.

I think there is other evidence here that should be looked at. The author in question posted the same stories that appear on inceststories.com. If you read them all you may come to the conclusion that they most likely weren't written by the same person. Also, a follow up story "What a Birthday Gift 2" is not written in the same voice, with the same style or with the same literary "habits" as the original. Still, I should have made certain I had the proof before I made the accusation. So now I'll plagiarize a recent story title and say "mea culpa"

I've contacted the author. If he indeed wrote the piece, then he will respond to me as I requested by Friday afternoon (which is today, wow time flies). If he does not respond, I will have to assume that he is plagiarizing, and I will remove his account. I've already de-listed his stories, but they'll be deleted along with his membership unless he tells me otherwise by the end of today. We'll see! I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention, TT, and hope you understand my position. I've embarrassed myself once already by firing offf accusations of plagiarism against an author, only to later discover that he wrote under two separate usernames on two separate sites. Was my face red!

Just read the new incest story "Uncle James' Lap" I have read this story before. Unfortunatly I don't remember where I read it. I did check out a couple a places, but drew a blank,. It could have been several month since the first time, but if any changes were made I did not notice. Could it be that it was posted here before? Does any one else recognise this story? If it's the same author posting on more then one site, fine, if its plagiarism boot 'em out.
