If you'd like an idea of my motivation, I've a thread in the Author's Hangout that ought to be more than enough background.
Is there another thread somewhere in here open to posting excerpts, snippets, teasers, problem paragraphs, etc? Or is it okay if I start one here? Of course I might start with some of my stuff and anyone else is free to do the same. Maybe like a training wheels thread for dealing with some bit of shyness, mixed feelings about again posting full-length stories on Literotica.

The Web site indicates by its various posting rules that it wants to maintain selection controls on what is published to the site. Posts on the discussion board constitute publishing to the site, so, no, it doesn't provide anywhere to post excerpts of stories it hasn't ruled on for selection. You could bypass its underage rule, for instance, by publishing it to the discussion board and all of the reasons the Web site didn't want underage material here would then have been bypassed. Beyond the Web site's own hosting preference, it is legally responsible for what it permits to be posted on its site.

Yeah okay. I can see the reasoning for that kind of policy.

Just gotta buckle down, finish the thing, and go from there.
Thank you.

That said, yes, providing space for critique before story file posting would be advantageous. And there's some of that going on here with small snippets of works in progress. There's a general rule here not to include more than three paragraphs of such works.

There are entire stories being published directly to the board in the role play forum, so long we follow site rules, why not!

It's not for everyone. Some of us are more solitary in our creative arts, but I still think it's a nice idea!

Posting 2-3 paragraph excerpts is within site rules. You can do it here or in the AH, and you wouldn't be the first.

Okay, that's helpful too.

Then again, sitting here thinking it through a little further... there is really nothing to do except get in the saddle and get a write/finish/submit rhythm going; quit dawdling in these forums. :)

Role play forum. Hm. Never ventured there. Hm. Thank you.

Yep, get on with it!

Not sure I'd use the role play forum to test your writing though. It seems to be quite a different creative dynamic. When writers bring role play content to the Feedback Forum, there's often a big something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it - it almost reads like a transcript of a phone call, but it's usually not evocative writing. More like assembling furniture.

Yes, at some point the "training wheels" analogy of posting small snippets or pieces is not going to work, but just delay you further. You can ask for help on a specific difficult plot point. But you can't foolproof it by breaking it down into small pieces and asking about each one - which seems to be be what you are implying here. At some point it's just you and whatever you can finish writing. You have he option then of linking it from the story feedback section to get opinions - but it has to be a completed, published story at that point,

The Story Ideas board has more flexibility, but that is usually about story proposals - and brief proposals at that - not works in progress.
