I ordered Pizza from a local chain place this evening. Neither my wife nor I felt like cooking and the pizza in this place is at least passable. They told us half an hour for the delivery.

40 minutes later we get a call from the delivery driver. He needed directions to our place. I met him on the street and he started digging through his hot bags for the pizza. It wasn't there, they had forgotten to put it in his bags. He appologised and promised that it would be at our place quickly.

After another 40 minutes he called again, this time I could hear voices in the background. He asked me what kind of pizza I had ordered and after I told him I could hear him telling someone they had sent out the wrong pizza. He told me he would personally see to it that my pizza was delivered.

After another half hour there was a knock on the door. Here was the guy standing there with his hot bag in hand. He handed over our pizza as well as extra Hot Peppers and Garlic Bread Sticks as he appologised for the delay. He then told us there was no charge for the pizza.

Now there was no way I was going to let this go away without saying something. This guy had gone out of his way to get us our pizza and I was more than willing to let him know this. I gave him a $20.00, (which was more than the pizza would have cost,) and got his name. I then wrote to the main office of the pizza place praising him and his attention to their customers. Hopefully this will be passed along to him.

Good for you, Cat. People are always quick to complain to the powers that be when things go wrong, but often silent when someone goes out of their way to make things right.

Pizza.

Yum.

Back in college we used to order from a pizza place we knew would be at least two hours late, if they showed up at all. We were angry about it every single time.

:D

Drugs. What can you do?

I think its great that you sent the mail praising the delivery guy. However, I just hope he doesnt get in trouble for doing too much and taking so much time with 1 customer. (please pardon the cynicism)

Our most frequent take away is curry - and I usually go to collect.

Your story tells why...

That's not cynical.

Cynical is my suspicion that the guy was late with the delivery because he was breaking into the house up the street, where he stole some beer from the fridge and ate SeaCat's first pizza.

LOL reminds me of a few years back...had a guy come out from Verizon to fix our phone system. Now we'd already had one person come out, say we needed a new line run from the main box to our apt...someone come out and hook a line but didn't finish running it into the apt...someone come out and leave...so we were a bit weary of this. This guy came out, introed himself, said it would take an hour...took him twenty minutes, crystal clear reception. So when he left I called Verizon to let them know how good of a job he'd done [figured in the bad job market every lil bit helps someone to keep thier job]. The woman on the phone actually thanked me for calling cause it made her day to hear a happy customer.

Just accidentally discovered that Round Table (awesome pizza, especially when you get it extra well done, YAY for crispy bacon and cheese!) has a sale on Mondays! $9 for pizza, $1 for drinks, and $2 for their parmesan twists. New target for dinner on Monday's at least until they stop that sale. :)

and kudos on the positive feedback! Having done multiple stints in customer service spots, I know firsthand how little positive feedback is given. Always more appreciated that you will ever know.

I ordered a pizza that never got delivered. It wasn't the driver's fault, it was mine. I was playing video games with my friend, and his apartment was right next to a highway. So with the game turned up, us making a lot of noise, and the highway out the window, we never heard the guy knocking on the door, and never got the pizza. We never did order from there again, afraid that they wouldn't send anyone out
