Hey everyone...
I'ma college student in an Honors program and have been given the opportunity to make a collage instead of writing two BORING papers. Because I am in the Honors program, I am allowed to choose any subject to create this collage on. I choose GLBT.
My request:
I need pictures, words, sentences...that describe the GLBT community (nothing of the sexual nature, more of the issues and everyday life).
I was told to find them in magazines, but I am w/o magazines! I am looking for pictures of marriages, famililies, lives. They can be of RL ppl, or from magazine settings.
If anyone can help me out, please just email me. I am not on Lit very often when I'm in the middle of a semester, so that's the best way to get hold of me.
Thanks ahead of time!!

Go to your local newsstand and look for copies of OUT and The Advocate. Find your local gay bar/watering hole and look for any local publications. Use online resources for television shows with openly gay characters {Will and Grace, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Queer as Folk etc.} That might well be a good subject for your project...do you think the media portrays the GLBT community accurately or stereotypically? Are the writers of these shows, (and some of them are openly gay as are the actors) portraying their community accurately or do they have their own agenda? The current issue of OUT has an article on a cruise vacation started by Rosie O'Donnell and her wife so that community couples would have a place to vacation with their children. That might fit in well with your discussion on marriage and family issues for example.

Hope this helps

Good luck.
