Pics I have been inspired to share

Are the cars a 3d rendering or a photo with some sort of filter applied? They look so REAL! :)

Nice work!

Thank you, Dex... Actually, no. CG is something I never got an interest in. They are real... For me, photography is the (non-sexual) passion that drives me. As I love what I do, I hope everyone who sees these find something they like even a bit as much as I enjoyed taking them.

This particular piece is all natural light, no filter. Only some background items have been removed to accentuate the vehicles. If you look closely at the yellow car's passenger window, you can see the power lines which are no longer in the main frame... I would have edited them from there as well, but my PS skills are not that great and I did not want to risk losing any of the authenticity of the photo by overdoing it.

BTW, Dex... I checked out your Yahoo group. I hope you don't mind my saying that although was a disturbing experience, the love you have for your work shines through... Just Awesome!!! I will be checking back from time to time and hope that the husband can escape (and/or) get some kind of revenge... Although, I don't know how one could top making someone else their shitter...

Wow... I thought they were rendered because everything looked too perfect--really nice work. I like that last one the best and could see that hanging on a wall in my place… Sort of has a dark feel to it that I admire… makes me think of abandonment, age, mortality… and the textures in the paint are great!

Thanks joining my group! Yeah, becoming someone's "shitter" is pretty much the most degrading fate possible I think :)

And how about 2 for 1?

SL2 was just a total fluke... The digicam battery warning light was on, so I was just snapping random pics in our backyard... I really liked the outcome. What say you?

And one more, just to be in keeping with the erotic theme of our illustrious message boards.

Very nice. How long have you had an interested in photography? I absolutely love it myself. I'm not very good yet but I'm learning.

And IMO your view of art isn't narrow. :)

Hi, Moonlight Elf!

Thanks so much for your comment!!

I took a short course in Photography and Film Development in high school about 17 years ago. At the time, I wasn't really interested, but took it as an easy grade. I bought my very first (and only so far) camera about two and a half years ago. Although it is a fairly basic point and click digicam, it has some manual features. I use these features along with photoshop tools to enhance the visual appeal of the photos as much as possible, but not so much as to marr the original image from what it was intended to look like in the first place.

For example, in JB2.JPG, I found the original to be a bit flat (Beleive me, the subject is very well shaped). I only have the ability in camera to take wide FOV, so foreground and back ground are in the same focus. To add depth, I softened her breast and did so incrementally away from the areola... then sharpened the areola/nipple, to give the illusion that the camera was focused on that area.

I am not to into effects just yet, but I plan on experimenting more as I grow more comfortable with the software.

This is a different view of the same house as GNF2. This property seems to have different personalities tied to it as you tour the property... In GNF2, it was a feeling of abandonment and age as an earlier poster had suggested.

In DS2, it is a more foreboding feeling I get... The fact of the bright sunny day, and the dark look to the property makes me think that I am not invited.

You may not see the features of the house if you have an older monitor or if you have your settings set dark and high contrast. Unfortunatly, this will mask the effect I am trying to convey here.

Nice work Jason.

Thank you Salvor-Hardon,

You know I hadn't though of it that way, but now that you mention it, there is a resemblance...

That's what I love about art... No two people will see the same thing.

Some more pics

I love your work. I spent a lot of time in my SLR days photographing motorcycles but unfortunately most are on slides, but your pic of the cars brought back those memories of walking around in the blinding sunlight, sunburned and still wanting just one more shot. As to this latest one, it is another favourite...buildings and their textures and features can be so beautiful to highlight through the lense.

Thanks for the kind words, Catalina and for sharing your trip down memory lane. That's exactly the kind of thing I see my work, a reminder to someone of times past, whether good or bad. Sontetimes I go for beauty as in JB2 (IMHO it is beautiful), although others may not agree. The eye of the beholder, right?

The motercycles bring to mind the many car shows I have attended in the past, but because of how tightly packed they were, the lighting conditions, and overall environment, I had not taken a single frame I would deem worthy to post. The cars I submitted was a total accident as far as how it turned out. My buddy and I were waiting for a car-wash to become available. I happened to be standing right where the pic was taken when I noticed it might work, so I dropped a coin where I stood to mark the spot, then ran for the camera. I'm happy I did as it is my favourite pic of machines that I have produced so far.

I don't know about you folks who consider themselves amateur photographers, but I take 15-20 pics before getting one I would enjoy wnough to share with others. Can you tell me if I'm on the mark with this? Am I being too fussy and self criticizing?

Definately can relate. I didn't so much when I used only 35mm SLR's and also Twin Lens Reflex, though I would occasionally take a couple of special ones I wanted to make sure of, but I have found since getting into digital and fully appreciating the ease and inexpense of producing multiple shots of the same scene/subject, I can easily go through 200-300 an afternoon in a neighbourhood walk through the nature reserves in our area. I am trying to rein it in a little though as I don't want to lose what I did gain in looking more objectively as I take the shot, but fear it has already gone walkabout and will take some discipline to get back to taking more exacting shots and nothing more.
