I'll admit right off my search techniques suck. If this is out there I will apologize in advance, just point me in the right direction.

I see the instructions for posting pictures, I would like to post a picture as part of a story. Can it be done? Is there a particular story format that works better than others? I currently upload text with embedded html so I can see the preview and find any html that didn't jump a page break.

Yeah, not quite what I was looking for but will keep it in mind. I was looking to add a small graphic jpg. Nothing critical so I'll just let it slide.

Thanks for the info.

They don't allow graphic images with stories. You can show boobs but that about it. Unless it's a drawing. Then anything goes.

Am I correct in understanding that the restriction is generally no part of the reproductive organs can be showing? I was thinking of having a picture of a heavily pregnant woman with large breasts sitting side-profile, but not wearing any clothes. Her genitals and anus would not be visible at all.

I want to insert a small pic, something that would not go against the rules. Question is can it be done in a regular story in a regular category? If so, how? IS it as simple as inserting it in the file before upload?

It can be done. You have to own the copyright. It will go in the category Illustrated.

As long as the genitals are not showing you can use what you describe.

I did one long ago. I submitted a word doc with the picture(s) where I wanted them Laurel took care of the rest. But it will go into the Illustrated category.

Yet there maybe someone along that will dispute that.

And as I've mentioned on another recent thread, that means you lose the main genre of the story in its categorization, which is a shame

Yeah, I could see if it was some series of things where the art is a big factor, but a small graphic is not worth losing the main category.

Yes it's a problem. I have submitted a couple of illustrated stories and they rank lower than any of the others. I think this is for two reasons:
1. It is harder to find the story within its genre because it is categorized as "Illustrated".
2. Readers who look at illustrated stories are uninterested in the genre when they open it, and vote the story down.
What is needed is an option to categorize by genre as with other stories and to separately mark it as illustrated.

As for content of actual story photos (however postprocessed) as opposed to illustration, the rules are no "lascivious" concentration on genitalia or having sex.
These rules apply to material that is actually uploaded to the literotica server, so that they are hosting it.
You cannot insert a story picture as a link to your externally-hosted content as you can in a forum post, where more liberal rules apply.

I think you're right, and makes it especially important to have a descriptive title, to attract (and inform) readers.

I am fairly sure that the main issue with the Illustrated category is not so much the lack of story sub-categorization within Illustrated, but that 'readers' are mainly looking for the illustrations and not the story.

Check the Top List for the Illustrated category and you'll find that half of the 'stories' are only pictures.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Laurel has occasionally allowed illustrations in non-Illustrated categories when they were just a small part of the story. Only way to be sure is to PM her and ask.

Tags, tags, tags. I don't usually use them but Illustrated category would be a great place to add them.

NaokoSmith's Maude Comes for Valentine is an example from the Romance category. The story contains two images, both quite small.

I was around when Naoko posted the story, and I recall she worked with Laurel to get permission. Now Laurel handles about twice as many stories/day, and it would surprise me if she had time to make exceptions to the rules.
