It IS ok to demand ID. But you want to do it haphazard and half-assed.

First you must fix the broken state of your ID system. If an ID that is an ID in one place is an ID in every place, and is free to obtain, have voter ID instated for next major election cycle - the 2014 midterms. This to avoid the suspicion that it's rushed through partisan voter suppression. If it isn't, what's the fucking panic all of a sudden?

Also, fix your broken voter registration logistics. The fact that you have to 'purge voter rolls' at all is clear evidence that that system is stuck in the last millennia.

In case you didn't realize it, a driver's license proves, in theory, that you can drive, that's why we have them. They aren't required as an ID otherwise.
So people should be licensed to vote?
