I have a question about a specific phrase. Many of you my fellow writers have heard the phrase " to hell and back". Here is my question are there any single words that mean the same as this phrase without having to use the phrase
" to hell and back".

The reason that i am asking about all of this is because i am working on a story about a writer who has been " to hell and back". but i want to use a single word to describe this writer instead of the phrase " to hell and back".

There are a lot of potential substitutes. It depends on the sentence.

What's the sentence?

One of the great things about the English language is that every word, every phrase, has a unique meaning. Synonyms are only ever approximate.

If ‘to hell and back’ is what you want to say, then ‘to hell and back’ is the best way to say it. If ‘to hell and back’ is not quite what you want to say, then there is probably another word or phrase. But, as Stella and Litfan have already suggested, it will depend a lot on the context. It’s seldom – if ever – something you can ‘just look up’ in a Thesaurus.

Redeemed. (Not that I can see that being used much in the context of erotica.)

It would always depend on the contest but, I presume, you are not using the phrase in any kind of religious way. That was the name of a movie about Audie Murphy in WW2 and starring Audie Murphy.

"Through the mill" would be three words but means about the same thing. "Scourged" is a good word. "Tortured" might work. There really aren't very many single words that would have the same meaning as "To hell and back."
