Phone Numbers...

Damn Bell!!!!

My area code is 502.
If you happened to pass through my web site guest book recently though you would have seen where KidFuck trolled it and posted my real life number on there saying to call me for sex. Surprised that he still has my number, kinda pathetic really. God I love delete buttons....

I live in outer London (phone number wise) and my number starts with 020 8 then the rest of my number, if I lived in inner London then the code would be 020 7.

My area code is 716.

But we're getting a new one, since we share it with Buffalo, and we're running out of numbers in both cities.

Buffalo gets to keep 716 :(

Thats what happened to us Angel. We used to be 905, but stupid LA keeps spreading and growing so they gave us 661.

The first two numbers of my phone number is 20, but if you call from outside Denmark, you of course need the country code, which is 45

Oh wow. I thought it was a conspiracy to make me look like an idiot when I couldn't remember my own area code ;)

Since they've definitely decided to change it, I wish they'd hurry up and let us know what it's gonna be.

Ok fine. I guess we do know what it is gonna be. It's going to be changed to 585 :(

I don't like it!!!!

NY: Rochester (NOTE: split boundary exactly follows county lines, except that Indian reservations are not divided. Niagara, Erie, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua Counties, plus the Tonawanda and Oil Springs reservations, keep 716. Points east change to 585.)

The new area code goes into effect in August of next year (I won't be here mwahaha)

I'm another 416-er.

Just wondering, is this bizarre ten digit local call thing common in big cities? It's pretty new here.

Hang on, MS, it's rumoured to be getting worse. They are discussing overlaying another area code over 416. This would mean you could have the situation where different floors in the same apartment building have different area codes. Think about that!

I wonder why they don't simply split the city along Yonge street and have the west end retain 416 and give a new one to the east end or vice-versa. My guess is because that would make too much sense.

We have three area codes in the Atlanta area. 404 for inside the perimeter, 770 outside the perimeter and 678 for either. We've had ten digit calling for years, it feels weird when I visit my family NOT to dial the area code first.

The way they do the overlay, the area code just becomes another part of the number. I have a friend whose work number is 404, her home number is 770 and her cell phone number is 678.
