One of my favorite contemporary composers. Hell, I've even studied with him!

So... check this out:

http://www.philipglass.com/glassengine/#

The IBM glass engine enables deep navigation of the music of Philip Glass. Personal interests, associations, and impulses guide the listener through an expanding selection of over sixty Glass works.

The engine is currently compatible with MS Internet Explorer (4.5+) running on Windows 98, ME, 2000, or Apple OS 9, OS X platforms. Medium to high-bandwidth Internet access is highly recommended, but not absolutely required.

Let me know what you think.

Not a single Phillip Glass fan here?

(On a side note, in over 2 years at Lit I believe this is the first thread I started that didn't get at least one response.)

Ummmmmmmmmm, didn't you have a similar thread a couple of weeks ago?

I couldn't figure out how to use the damned thing then either.

I've listened to a bunch of his stuff but, to be honest, it makes my teeth hurt.

I'm not much of a fan of modern composers like him or Cage.

Hey, I didn't see it.

I'm not exactly a Phillip Glass fan, because I get tired of his sound after awhile. I was very impressed with"Koyaanisqatsi" until I heard other works of his that sounded exactly the same.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, because I know he's putting out a lot of music and it can't all be the same.

I'm not sure what prompted me to pull out my LP of "1000 Airplanes on the Roof" last week, but I gave it a listen.

Happy, Happy, Happy.... Every-body's Happy!

If you don't know what I am saying here, sorry, I couldn't resist.

I thought his cameo on South Park's politically correct un-Christmas special kicked ass, if that counts as being a fan :)

when i was in high school we put on a production of david ive's All In The Timing, which is a bunch of one acts. one of them was called "phillip glass buys a loaf of bread." it was bizzare and no one in the entire audience understood it.

however, i liked what he did with the sound track for The Hours.
