Pheromones

I don't know if its true or not but I assume it is.... When I was a teenager all the girls sharing the same locker room would have their periods at the same time or around the same time ... How would our bodies know how to time themselves in that way other, then because of our sweating/smelling together?

Some of my research has used mice, guinea pigs, cattle and horses. If you keep them close enough for a couple months, their estrus cycle will synchonize without any manipulation of outside variables. But there must be a male present for the effect to occur. I think it is called the Whitten effect.

I absolutely believe in pheromones in humans as an attractant to the opposite sex. And I also believe that colognes, soaps and other scented toiletries don't mask the natural, individual scent of a particular person. I have noticed a distinct scent in a man I am attracted to. A complete stranger can turn my head if I get a whiff of the unique scent that attracts me. .....
Forgive me, but I've lost my train of thought. Maybe I'm strange but just thinking about the smell of my husband turns me on.

Yes, humans have them. And they can have a hell of an effect on people. Two of my previous partners had a natural smell that drove me wild. I'd sleep in their worn shirts at night if they weren't with me, and it comforted me. Their natural body smell would make me very horny, and make me feel safe at the same time. When we split, one of the biggest things I missed was their smell. Since I still saw them on a regular basis after we split, I'd hug them, and their smell would make my heart lurch.

The strange thing is, my current partner and I can't smell each other. Even if we've been working in the yard, or missed a shower for some reason, we can't smell each other. I lay on his pillow, or wear his worn shirt, and I get nothing...except maybe a whiff of his deodorant. Likewise, he smells nothing when he is close to me, even when I can smell myself! Honestly, I do miss the emotions that were triggered by my previous partners' smells, and I wish I had that with my current partner.

Yes, they exist, sorta

I did a lot or research and wrote a story about them. If you're interested, check it out. Some of the pheromone-related chemicals and terms are mentioned there. Search the internet for those terms and you'll find a lot of information about them.

Realm

Of course we all have pheromones but like everyone has been saying we clean ourselves often enough so they don't work too well. however there is hope!! Most Department stores sell a perfume/cologne with no animal pheromones!! This stuff is called Realm, they make it for both men and women. The stuff contains synthetic human pheromones. It's a little on the expensive side but I have heard it works great.

Realm, huh? Interesting ! Thanks for sharing that, JollyMeatMan.

I'm definately going to look further into this when I get the time. I think it's fascinating that a person's scent alone can trigger emotions and feelings! Thanks for all the info from everyone who posted.
