Pherimones ?

I was wondering if Pherimones worked at attracting the opposite sex? I see and read all this literature about how it is natural and supposed to work. I even see ads that sell them.

Has anyone ever used them? I'd love to hear opinions and experiences. All are welcome.

Smell in general will help attract a woman, think of it as taking advantage of another way to stimulate a woman/man. You can get the same result with perfume cologne or nice bar of soap.

Women who live together will often eventually have the same menstrual schedule (i.e., they get their period at the same time every month). It's theorized that pheromones cause this phenomenon but I dont' know if there is any conclusive evidence. I would be interested to know if anyone else knows anything about this.

As far as attracting the opposite sex, I think practicing good hygiene will be more worth the time and money than buying synthetic pheromones.

Pheromones are chemicals produced by the body to trigger subconscious reactions in members of the opposite sex. However, I don't think they play a role in modern human societies. In primitive times, when people didn't bathe or practice our standards of hygiene, pheromones helped men and women get past the fact that their potential mates stunk to high heaven...nature had to do something to compensate for the fact that people can smell downright awful at times. Today, we have all kinds of soap and perfumes that both take care of the dirtiness and make us smell good - much more effective, in my opinion. I don't put much stock in chemical reproductions of pheromones - I really think you'd have better luck with a nice aftershave lotion or cologne.

Actually, there is pretty conclusive evidence on the power and efficacy of pheromones in both animals and humans... do a google search. A lot of the formulas being sold as "magic attraction potions" and "liquid panty removers" are scams though. Here's a pretty good review/field test:

I'm not sure if the positive results from some of these formulas are due to a placebo effect, but I agree that good hygiene, a nice cologne, and personality will likely get you a lot further in the long run.

Technically, this doesn't have much to do with pheremones...but the basic subject seems to fit.

This may seem odd, but...what would your thoughts on the subject of smells be with regards to a person who can't smell at all?

I ask this out of curiosity, because I myself cannot smell. At all. I mean, I can *smell* (you know, like from B.O. ), but my nose can't *detect* smells. For as far back as I can remember, I've never had any sense of smell for my entire life.

This is rather disconcerting, as no one I've ever talked to has ever reported having (or knowing someone else to have) a similar problem. Granted, some people lose their ability to smell when they have a cold or something, but no one's ever complained of being unable to smell at all.

Sometimes, this quirk of mine can be quite handy; I'm effectively immune to farts, for example. But, mostly it's depressing. I already miss out on a lot in life thanks to my nerdiness; the thought that I'm missing out of a whole 1/5th of sensory experience itself is almost heartbreaking. Think about it...how would you feel if you could never know the sweet scent of a flower, or tantalizing aroma of a freshly-cooked meal? Naturally, this extends to sex as well...I'll never even be able to tell if a girl is wearing perfume, let alone breathe the intoxicating scents of sex.

And, as if that weren't bad enough, there are practical problems as well. I can't wear cologne, since I have no way to tell how much is 'too much'. Also, because of my weight, I tend to sweat more than your average person, which results in increased body odor...and since I can't smell, I have no way of even *knowing* how badly I might be stinking at any given time. The best I can do is bathe regularly and hope my body odor and/or breath aren't strong enough to kill plants and small animals.


I've talked with my doctor at length about this...but she can't find anything wrong, at least not from an exterior point of view. Aside from cutting open my sinuses and having a look inside (yikes!), there doesn't seem to be any way to find the cause, much less cure the problem.


Does anyone here know anyone with such a problem? I'd love to hear if there are others who've experience this, and if they found some way to deal with it.

I saw this special called "Discovery on Sex" showing how they work, then I ordered this stuff called "Beaches" which is supposed to be concentrated pheromones. I tried it on three guys and it WORKED! But now that I know... I only use it in case of emergency...lol Of course, you have to get them close enough to you to smell it.... OMG it works sigh...

You might want to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist who is more focused on Nose and Sinus problems just in case...they can make sure nothing's wrong with a scope and/or CT scan.

I don't think having Anosmia necessarily means you can't detect pheromones though.

I've heard dabbing a little natural lubricant on your neck or torso works as well.

I heard that worked from a lady friend of mine ! Just the thought of her doing that is more of a turn on. I'm curious if it works for men as well. I shall try that sometime soon.

I shower every day and my hygene is good. But only on occaision will I be wearing a cologne. I haven't had much success wearing colognes, they haven't really done much.

When perfumes with pheremones intended to arouse women were first introduced, the chemical used was female, not male.

The strategy wasn't to turn on the owmen using male pheremones, but to make her feel good about herself using female pheremones.

Yes I do know someone who can't smell...she's a close friend of our family..in her 70s now.

She was great when my kids were small and needed their diapers changed!

ok on a serious note. I never once heard her complain about it. The lack of smell affected her taste as well (she liked hot spicy foods because then she could get some semblance of taste). I don't know what caused it, but it's just the way she was. My advice to you is to follow her way of dealing with it and just adopt a combination of 'that's life...nothing I can do about it' attitude as well as a positive...don't complain...attitude. oh yes and keep up the daily hygiene

Yup I know someone too..my mom..can't smell a thing and hasn't been able to since birth..you are not alone out there....

I'm not sure about the bottled pheromones that are sold, but certainly every human has them and they can trigger sexual arousal. The scent is unique to the person. You don't need to purchase them - you already have them.

Now, most people do everything they can to mask their natural scent. I'm not saying people should stop bathing but cologne and perfumes often hide a scent which could be very pleasing and highly arousing to the opposite sex. In fact, the natural "perfume" of a (clean) woman can be her greatest sexual asset.

Besides that, a perfumed and heavily deodarized woman (or man) is like spraying a flower with air refresher. It's unnecessary and takes away from the appeal.

No clue if it works on women, but the smell of a freshly mowed lawn never fails to make me think of men (to me, the smell of semen is similar to cut grass).

As for colognes, I like a clean, fresh smell. My favorite (and one of the only ones that doesn't make me ill) is Eternity. Kind of soapy. My husband can attest to the fact that I'm all over him every time he wears a little.

I don't wear perfumes since they give me a headache, I wear the body sprays. The sprays smell good but aren't as strong and your natural smell comes through. Hubs wears some cologne but it isn't too strong, he gets attacked when he wears it.
