Mel Lastman and city coucil floated the idea of trying to make toronto if not a province then a city state type beein that had more freedom from the province to do what it wished politically.

Idea never got to far... That was last year or so. Never heard from since.

Toronto as a city-state? You mean like the Vatican? There's a great idea, they could form their own religion with Toronto worship as it's central feature.

If toronto was made into a city-stae )or what ever they wanted) All Toronto wanted out of it was total control of taxes and anything happening within its own borders.

In essence it would have the same powers as a province does in Canada.
