Phantom Ship

In the South Atlantic Ocean lays a triangle rumored to take the known and make it unknown. Planes, ships, anything that ventures into this mysterious place are never heard from again. Thousands of missing people lost to its mysterious ways, no one understands why? No one has ever questioned the feared triangle, nor gone looking. Superstitions are funny that way, but the fear is real and a group of young college would-be scientists are about to find that out.

The boat was chartered, the equipment was loaded and six people and a captain were off. It took a lot of cash to convince someone to take them, but they were determined to find something, anything that would prove that superstitions were stupid. Something else had caused these things to vanish, they would find that something, and they would all be famous. Or so they thought..

Ooc: There is the introduction to the thread. I would like new comers to join as well as experienced writers. There are the 7 roles open. I will play the sea captain :) I would like even numbers to make it easier. 3 gals and 3 guys please. Also the ‘evil entity’ will be played either by me or someone I pick. There are rules to engagement as well, just so everyone knows what exactly the “entity” can and can’t do. I would however like to cast the evil entity, so P.M. me please. (this is for the evil entity canidates)

No RULES! The Evil Entity can do as it pleases :) It's job: suck the souls from the bodies of those new arrivals until death.... So all can and will die eventually in this thread.

Boat Description: It is a large cruise liner ship from the early 1940’s. It sits in the middle of a large fog covered area, empty. Everyone has vanished, and the gangplank is down. There are lifeboats but the rigging is stuck, the equipment to lower it is rusted over and if dropped to the water below, it will break into pieces. :) (love a challenge) The ship is whole, just doesn’t work. From bow to stern, everything is eerily in place. Picture something like the modern day cruise ships for size. I don’t know boat jargen. lol

Remember the rules of etiquette, don’t control other’s characters, once you are on there is no way out, so if you leave, please kill off your character. P.M. the “evil entity” for a final scene (make’s it much better) :) Have fun, open for the 6 roles of scientists and William.

IC:

The fishing vessel was ready to depart. I had my own crew with me, two men and the six crazy college students. This was going to be one wild adventure. Oh I didn’t go along for the money, I went along for the adventure its self. At thirty-two years old I needed some. And venturing into the Bermuda Triangle was a definite way to get some.

I loved my baby, The Urchin, she was a bulky run down thing, but she stayed afloat and she was reliable to get us in and out of there. I didn’t care how long these kids wanted to stay, I wasn’t lingering past dark. I was superstitious, all sailors were. Was it a crime? The young man who led his friends out here thought so, but I paid him no mind. He kept giving me weird looks, shaking his head and talking to his group on the deck. His hands moving wildly in the air, the excitement on his face. I did hope that this trip proved a point and yet didn’t disappoint the poor guy either.

“We’re almost there.” I said over the PA system, causing a few to jump when my voice came out loud and clear over the large speakers above their heads. Grinning I waved and pointed just ahead. Into that fog was the Bermuda triangle. Slowing down the engines, I let the current pull us in. I couldn’t help the shiver that raced down my spine as I bent down and gazed into the foggy haze. I didn’t like this, but it was a do or die situation. And I did need the cash! Ok so I said I didn't but I did. *sheepish grinz*

Goose flesh rose across my arms as the white enveloped us, that creepy feeling one gets during a horror movie? I had it. Sighing heavily, I had to grow some balls (metaphorically speaking) and just get this over with.

A sudden clanking sound caught my attention, “Shit!” My engines were failing or something, I could feel the lag on the wheel. The boat shuddered visibly and the engines cut out. “Fucking great!” I picked up the phone and called down to the engine rooms.
“What’s up down there?”
“Sorry captain, something is wrong, I will get it fixed!” The voice of William, one of my team, urgently spoke into the phone. He didn’t want to come here, he had spoken harshly against it. But in the end he came, only because he was a loyal man and wouldn’t leave me alone out there.
“Alright Billy, get it working please.” I hung up the phone and turned, bumping into the young scientist.
“SHIT!” He scared about ten years off my life with his unannounced arrival!
“Yes?”
“What’s wrong with the ship?” He glared at me, probably thinking I did this on purpose to get out of his chartered trip.
“Don’t know, when I do, you’ll know.” I glared right back. He stood taller than I, but that didn’t matter. It was still my ship and my word was law here.
“Oh..” he flushed a little and backed out of the way, “ok.” He was at a loss as to what he should say to me.

“Ship ahead!” I heard one of the girls outside squeal in delight. “We’re saved! It’s a fuckin’ huge ass ship!” She waved her hands, trying to get the attention of the cruise liner. Since we weren’t going anywhere anytime soon, I wandered out on deck and tried to see the ship through the fog.

An audible gasp went up through the air, all staring wide eyed at the mossy sides of the cruise liner. “That ship isn’t moving, nor going anywhere anytime soon.” I muttered to the group. It looked to be older than time its self and it was indeed frozen in time, kind of. It wasn’t running, it wasn’t moving and I couldn’t see a single soul on deck.

“Well you wanted to see the triangle, there is part of it.” I mumbled in disgust. This did not look good, in fact the fear inside me was bubbling up more and more. All the superstitions were true! My eyes was scanning over the proof right before us.

“Why is the thing down?” The girl pointed to the stairs hanging down along side the ship.
“Perhaps whoever was stuck here left?” Another voice piped up.
“Or perhaps some spook is inviting us in?” Another guy chuckled out.
“Alright, let’s settle down.” My voice of reason was running, there was nothing to fear here. There was no reason to get edgy and scared. It was just a ship, only larger than my own.
“Captain?” I turned and William was standing there, holding something oily and black.
“A main pully went out, the teeth are for some reason chewed off?” He looked worried and I could understand why. Those things were compressed metal, steel and heated to withstand anything. They never broke like that, a belt would give before that would.
“Any spares?”
“None captain.”
“Alright.” I had to think. What were we going to do now?
“We could search that ship for the part and investigate it for our study?” One of the girls was speaking up for the first time since this happened. She sounded mature and reasonable as well.
“Guess that’s what we are going to do, we have no other choices right now.” I sighed heavily again and glanced over the group.
“Gather your things, we’ll search you, guys study.” Turning back to my ship, I had William put out the anchor while I shut down the power. No need to drain our batteries.

ooc: Let the spooky stuff and fun begin! ;)

OOC:

5’ 11’

175lbs
rugged weathered by years at sea.
Thinning red hair
Late 40’s

IC: 1st mate, bowsain, and all around deck hand. O’ Connell is a typical sailor a unique combination of fearless rogue, superstious , but would never admit it to himself, just didn’t believe in tempting fate.. He knew the Captain from the time she was a scrawny kid hanging about the docks. Some would not sail with her for no other reason than she was a woman and that was bad luck.

He was uneasy about this trip but would not let the “Cap” down. He leaned against the starboard rail as the truck with the ships stores came rolling down the dock. The scientific equipment was already sowed aboard.

He watched as the team assembled. Land lubbers the lot of them, well there was worked to be done.

That was how it started, now in the low eerie light as the fog bank slowly enveloped us I watch the “Cap” take charge but noticed the sweat and the worried look that played around her eyes and mouth. Didn’t wait for orders as I heard the anchor chain rattling out and down the hose pipe. I leaped from the deck to the Jacobs ladder making a line fast to keep our boat from yawning as the anchor took hold and our head way ceased. All stopped” and the fog grew thicker, the Caribbean sun dimmer till we where in a world of half light.

“ All secured and made fast “Cap”.

I did not like it, any of it, but hell we where in it now, nothing to do but tough it out.

A little note

The ship is already in the Bermuda triangle and sitting marooned next to the cruise liner ship.

Doug

He turned his gave from where he'd been looking over the ocean, and glanced up at the large ship. He slowly made his way to his feet, stepping closer as he stared up at the large ship. "The Cristobal Colon? I thought that was destroyed in WWII?"

He glanced to the others around, and turned to go collect their equipment. Interesting trip, indeed.

Arianna Davis

Arianna didnt know what kind of boat to expect, but when she finally laid eyes on it she was not very thrilled, although the captain did gave her some reasurance, It was a woman, and quite attractive as well.

The trip started and the boat fared much better at sea than it seemed like at the dock. after a while they finally got to the place, fog started accumulating. Arianna frowned, how was she supposed to take photographs in these conditions, well a struggling reporter should face with this kind of trouble she figured.

Just when the boat was fully covered by fog it happened... the boat failed... Great! just Great! she thought to herself, her first chance for a good story and things were already looking bad, she looks out into the fog and there it was, hope!

“Ship ahead! We’re saved! It’s a fuckin’ huge ass ship!” She waved her hands, trying to get the attention of the cruise liner.

An abandoned ship... after some discussing it was decided that the " phantom " ship had to be boarded, both to look for spare parts for the boat and to begin the investigation...

Arianna grabed her camera and voice recorder and got ready to board the ship...

Jeremy

Jeremy had not enjoyed the trip out to sea, He'd just discovered that he was seasick and cursed his girlfriend for what would be the first of many times in the coming days. How had he been so stupid he thought, hanging over the side of the boat, he really shouldn't let himself get talked into these stupid positions.

He began to feel a clammy mist surround him and looked up and out to sea, at least it would have been out to sea if it wasn't so damn foggy. Taking a couple of deep breaths, hoping that the sickness would now subside he stood up and looked to see what was going on. He'd heard the engines stop and now looking around he realised that this was not a planned pause.

There was a great deal of discussion going on and behind the discussion was a great cruise liner. Jeremy wondered if they had run into it, but the captain seemed very competent and he'd not heard any collision. Jeremy's senses became heightened as he heard someone mention the word stranded and he began to curse his girlfriend once again.

"Why did I let myself get talked into this!", he muttered to himself again before walking over to join the group who appeared to be forming themselves into a boarding party. He didn't know what he wanted to do least, board the creepy ship or stay down in the mist shrouded boat. He decided with no conviction that he wanted to be with the crowd. Typical Jeremy he thought as he followed the group towards the liner.

Billy

Billy looked at the pulley in his hands shaking his head. He was a logical man, there had to be a reason for this part to break like it did but he could’n explain it . He wasn’t an expert by any means on engines or their components but this was hard understand. The best his mind could come up with was some sort of metal fatigue maybe a hairline fracture that wasn’t seen in its aseembly . Yes thats what it was a hairline fracture that finally gave out.

He relaxed, looking aT Natasha, seeing how worried she was he smiled one of his silly what- do- we do- now- cap , smiles to draw her into a better mood..

“Cap, she liked to be called that, its ok we’ll find a part , that big cruiser is sure to have something we can cobble together to get underway again if not a call to the coast guard will bring them here in less than an hour the first mate knows our coordnates and they’ll have no trouble finding us.” He grinned again.

Looking starboard towards the cruiser he saw that she wasn’t listing;, a good sign that she hadn’t taken on any sea water. She stood dead in the water even though her anchors hadn’t been lowered. strange he thought but there had to be a reason.

Some of those that were aboard the fishing boat had gathered toward the side, fascinated by the sight of being tied up to this huge crusier and full of curiosity about it. Billy sighed. He remembered how he had been so full of exuberance once looking for magic, always optimistic. four years in the Navy had cured him of that. The Navy had introduced him to a new world. a world full of harsh realitlies a world far for the free and carefree days of colllege life. He wasn’t bitter in fact he kept his playfull optimistic attitude it was just that he was more settled more logical and more cautious about life.

He felt responsible for the safety of Natashas boat and therefore the safety of its passengers. He lowered the anchor and watched it disappear into the dark water.

Chunk!

It came to the end of its line. He could tell it hadn’t touched bottom, yet the boat came to a stop just feet from where the cruiser lay.He cut the power and waited for orders from the captain.

Capt. Nat

I looked over the college students, not interested in their field of study or whatever other crazy idea they had in their heads at this point.
"I am going to try and make contact with another fellow fishing boat out here. William and CG, go look for the part and help them please?" I glanced at the kids for a moment, "Be careful and dont go anywhere dangerous ok? Once I get the part I need and we're fixed, we are out of here." I walked back to the wheel and picked up the CB once more and began calling out distress calls.
I watched the kids hike up the ramp, my mind still registering the fact a huge cruise liner sat there all this time, undisturbed? weird.

"This is the Skylark, anyone out there?" No answer yet again. Given directions, position, name. Fuck! Tapping a fingertip on the wheel, I tried once more.

Arie

Arie was in her room meditating when the ship stopped. "Odd." she thought to herself. It wasn't anything that scared her for few things did. She just didn't know what would make a huge ship come to a stop like it had.

She came on this trip expecting an exciting adventure and she was sure that she would get it. Taking a towel around her neck she strode up to the main deck and found the rest of the crew looking somewhat startled, a few even scared.

"Anything I can do captain?" She asked, expecting exactly what she got.

"I am going to try and make contact with another fellow fishing boat out here. William and CG, go look for the part and help them please? Be careful and dont go anywhere dangerous ok? Once I get the part I need and we're fixed, we are out of here."

"Dangerous?" She thought to hreself. "Living in New York is dangerous. This is just a ship."

Her medical knowledge had made her a good canidate for this ships medic. She wasn't afraid of spirits or spooks, whatever the word for them here was. She had a good head on her shoulders. This was just another adventure.

"Aye aye, captain." She giggled under her breath as she watched the captain walk away.

Doug

He gathered up the equipment, putting on the heavy vest that was mostly loaded down with batteries. He took the video camera, and opened the box holding the college's old SPD. He was glad they'd had one of the odd little devices. He clipped it to his belt, and hefted the video camera up.

He glanced over at the others, already halfway up to the ship. He looked up at it, and spoke in what was barely a whisper. "Permission to come aboard?"

He waited a moment before turning on the video camera and SPD. He started up after the others, camera straight ahead as he glanced around. A very interesting trip.

Captain Nat

Getting no responce over the radio, I didn't even bother trying the cell phone out here.
Sighing I moved back on deck. Everyone else was on board the larger ship. I felt another tremor move up my spine, I didn't want to go up there. Something was just not right with this whole situation.
William and Cg were already on board searching for the much needed part. The kids all up there exploring around, only one left out here was myself.
Gripping the railing, I made the slow ascend up.

Back on the bridge I noted down our longitude and Latitude and handed it to the Captain.

”William and CG, go look for the part and help them please?"………………… "Be careful and don’t go anywhere dangerous ok? Once I get the part I need and we're fixed, we are out of here."

Looking at the eager group of college students and would be scientists I scratched my head wondering what the hell we had gotten our selves in for.

“Billy I’ll check aft for engineering stores or the machine shop, starboard side you take port.” God one of the kids was as green as could be and I could tell he didn’t quite get along with the sea.

“Stay on the main deck, and main cabin, she been out here for quite awhile and Like the Cap said we get our part and we are out of here……….Stay close.”

Slinging a bag of their gear over my shoulder I started up thee Jacob’s companion ladder.

Captain Nat

A smile twisted my face as I moved back to the smaller fishing boat.

Walking back, the way I had come, I made my way down the stairs and into the bottom of the boat. I glanced at the engine and then searched around for something to disable this thing forever.

The time had come. I had lured here fresh meat, too bad the real Captain Natalie was dead back on the mainland.

MORONS!

I laughed outright, it was good to have volcal cords once again. Taking a few tools, i took a few more parts off the engine and cut a few of the lines.

That would do for now.

Turning back, I made my way up the ramp, "Welcome home Mistress." I smiled, caressing my baby before putting back on a somber look and stepping onto deck.

Amanda Davis

Amanda climbs up to the " ghost ship ", she looks around only thinking about the great shots she could get from this ship... The other students were also going on board, one of them carried a video camera... Amanda walks a little further ahead, describing what she sees for her voice recorder and taking photographs here and there... before she notices she looks back and sees nothing but fog...

" Ohh.. I guess I wandered a little too far, but Im not getting any story by just watching from back there. "

Amanda keeps walking...

Eddie Kohl

“Why is the thing down?” The girl pointed to the stairs hanging down along side the ship.
“Perhaps whoever was stuck here left?” Another voice piped up.

“Or perhaps some spook is inviting us in?” I chuckled.

“Alright, let’s settle down.” The Captain's voice cut through the chatter.

I laughed inside. Here is what I was looking for: Adventure with a capital A. Was I nervous, hell yes. The feeling was great. I looked at the ship again and heard Doug mutter, "The Cristobal Colon? I thought that was destroyed in WWII?"

WWII? And still floating? Imagine what treasures might still be stored on board that thing. I ran back to my cabin to pick up some supplies: A Hammer, some screwdrivers, a large knife, and some duct tape. (Why duct tape? Why not?) These I threw in a briefcase I had with me and I clambered up the stairs onto the other ship. If I can just grab a few goodies off the boat, I'll be set for life. Just think I can retire at 21. Breaking off from the main group, I looked for the cabin area of the boat, more spefically, the first class cabins...

Captain Natalie

I made my way up the ramp and glanced around. The fog was still thick and clingy in ways I didn't think was normal. Moving towards the Captains quarters, I smiled as the door hung open. Easy to get inside and see whats what.
These kids would probably treasure hunt a little, But I still needed this journal found.
Picking it up, I walked outside and down to an old upright barrel. This would work for a table. Making sure no one was watching me, I set the book down and opened it up to the first pages. Lovingly my hand slid up and down the paper, recalling that bold manuscript belonged to a very dear man, a long dead man..

Captain’s Log Captain John Richards

March 5th 1945.

The Skylark’s maiden voyage.

We’re all set to cast off. The owner Mr. Winters has built a beautiful ship, and I am proud to be her captain. We will be sailing from Hawaii around South America and up to Florida to pick up her first passengers. A few military men and nurses and their families have jumped on board to catch a ride home. I am excited and look forward to sailing around the world. Though these are hard times and the depression is upon us, there are still some enjoyments in life.

March 10th 1945

The ship handles like a dream. The few passengers are enjoying themselves. Dancing and fine dinners. There are many children on board to keep the twins occupied while my wife and I enjoy the quiet time. My family has come along to get off in Florida and see her parents state side, this is the first trip my wife has ever taken with me. I look forward to showing her my life out here.

March 15th 1945

One of the military men has lost their son on the ship, but good news is we found him wandering down in the hold. Uneventful day, I have begun showing Wendy around the ship and telling her how things run. Tonight we all danced after dinner, one of the brit’s on board showed all of us this interesting dance. It was a very nice evening. The skies are clear and its smooth sailing so far. We should reach Florida in two days.

Doug

He could tell immediately once onboard that this was not the ship he had thought. He frowned, and pointed the video camera around. He didn't bother keeping up with the others, instead picking the closest rooms to where they entered and getting video footage of the ship.

He was silent in his work, moving to the third room without event. He stopped, and looked up and down the hall. A few more rooms, and the others would probably be back.

He frowned, and looked up and down the hallway again. "Now why is it I get the feeling that something very wrong is about to happen?"

Jeremy

Jeremy looked along the deck of the ship and wondered how everyone could have just disappeared, like a giant game of hide and seek, only with a whole boat playing. Looking around he found himself standing alone, or alone as far as he could see, which wasn't far in the awful mist which was clinging to the ship.

"Just great!" He muttered to himself and decided to head back to the other boat. He must have lost his bearings in the fog though as he only found himself walking further and further into the unknown. He really wasn't relishing the excitement of exploring the ship like the others seemed to be. Not wanting to appear as cowardly as he felt though he carried on walking, further and further away from the boat.

After a while he found a pair of large doors. He looked up and found that they led to the main entertainment lounge and he argued with himself on whether to enter or not. Finally he decided he'd had enough of the mist and with a deep breath entered the lounge.

The lounge was deserted as everywhere else seemed to be, but there did seem to be the evidence that people had once been here. Glasses stood on tables and although empty and dusty did have the appearance of having belonged to someone. The whole lounge was covered in dust and as he walked small clouds of it rose from the luxurious carpet. He didn't like this one bit, but decided to make the most of things in this room, at least until the mist lifted.

He wandered across to the bar, wiped the dust from a glass and poured himself a neat scotch from a half full bottle. "Ugh, no ice" he said out loud as he swigged the whisky back in one gulp. He took the bottle and sat in the centre of the lounge, facing the double doors and poured himself another drink and waited.

A sharp stab of cramp in the back of my right shin jerked me unceremoniously from sleep. Turning in a reflex to massage my leg I banged my head on the steel bulkhead - and reality flooded back.

The shackles clanked on steel a cruel chorus reminding me of my imprisonment aboard this ship. Who oh why had I ever dreamed I could stow away and start a new life? Why? Now here I was imprisoned, and now awake so thirtsy: how long was it siince I'd seen anyone. The food plate was caked with dry remains, my lips were parched. Was this to be the way my life would ebb away, my body to be found by some maintenance crew when the liner docked?

Captain Nat

Glancing up from the book I noticed that no one was around?
"Now where did they go venturing off to?" I glanced up the deck and down, still no one in sight.
Walking to the ledge, I glanced down at my own ship below. No one appeared to be onboard anylonger. Sighing, I shut the book and tucked it under my arm.
Best go looking for the tourists and find out just where they are. Grinning, I walked by the shuffleboard and a few lounge chairs. This ship was once grander than anything built to date... well that didn't get sunk by the ice berg.
Chuckling at that one, I moved off along corridoors to the dining hall and dance hall.
"Hello? Where is everyone?" I called out loudly but heard nothing. Perhaps down in the hull of the ship? Finding stairs, I began my hike down, main deck, deck 1 and down to deck 2.
No one around. The state rooms were on the first floor. First class then down classes until you got to the shitty area the poorest would sail in. Poor guys, getting to be down here with the rats and hauled crap.
I moved down further until I came to the main center of the boat. Engine rooms were in the back, all the cargo was stored in here.
"Hello?" I glanced around, the cold shivers raced up my spine once more. I wondered if perhaps more than just one ghost was walking around? Shrugging, I didn't care in the least.
Not now, not anymore.
I walked along, inspecting various crates. In here was china, vases, person belongings. Safes and other misc. things.
"Well shit.."I was alone down here, well Billy was down here somewhere as well, but he wouldn't find a useful part to help us out. I had made sure of that..
I struggled in my mind to recall just why I came here and then parts of me said I was always here. Confusing and yet amusing as well.
Sighing, I walked along til I found the engine room. Opening the cracked open door I hollered inside, "BILLY? you in here?"

Arie

It was an amazing ship. I would give you that. The upper levels were like a doll house, every peice looking delicate and wonderful. I wondered how bad it would get the further down you got, but didn't want to go too far.

Looking behind me I noticed that everyone seemed to be going their seperate ways. "This isn't a good idea." I told myself. It was as if the ship was just as it would be had people been on it. The chairs were set up at the tables in the dining hall, as if someone was about to sit and eat a fancy feast.

I ventured further, into the kitchen. The med deck was usually around here close by and I thought perhaps if I went in there, someone would have a not or journal about telling of the adventure this place had had.

The doors swung shut behind me as I entered the gully. "Wow!" I thought to myself. The pans weren't dusty like you would think they would be. It was as if I had captured myself in time, hiding int he past. The settings were set out as if someone, or something were about to place dinner for everyone aboard.

Getting to the corner of the gully I heard the door shut behind me. 'Someone there?" I yelled.

Rubbing the cramp out ofmy leg only made my whole bodyache, so stiff, every joint. "What's happened to me" I felt wasted and looked it too, my arms and legs so thin, were once there'd been lean muscle, now I was a scrawnt victim.

But stop ... listen ... footsteps?

Chris

Having kept myself busy checking barometer measurements against the nautical chart during our predicament, I soon realized that we were going to disembark onto the old ship.

Putting aside my notes, I followed the others, climbing the planks up to the deck. Once on deck, I couldn't help but notice how bleached the deck wood looked... let's see, WWII, that's 50+ years under strong UV exposure in this latitude, yeah, that would explain it. Curious how some things look ancient, like the life rafts, which I doubt would float if we were to lower them, while the smoke stacks looked like they were shined spotless yesterday. Looking over the side, the small tug which got us here expressly and sputtered just as quick, looked small, impressing me with how we could be out in the middle of the Atlantic in what looked from here a bathtub toy.

Everyone was drifting, curious to explore this ship, and every once in a while I heard one of them shout and wait for an answer that didn't come.

Having made my way around the deck and circling back to the gangplank, I saw, just as I turned the corner, our captain scrambling down to the boat in such a manner as though she adopted a different gait altogether. Having confronted her once, I didn't want to run into her again, and instead turned and walked back to the stern of the ship, noticing how the fog seemed to roll in with the wind and yet not be blown clear. I have only seen this in Northern latitudes and this presented a paradox altogether. I leaned on the railing, looking off the stern and contemplating this enigma.

Holding my breath, listening - did I imagine footsteps echoing from withing the ship. But then why wouldn't I I was sure that before I'd slept the ship abounded with sounds of life, indeed the very steel around me had hummed with the vibration of the ship's engines. But this - this was so different. What had made me listen for foorfalls was the eery silence - as though I was alone. But that's not possible, the ship was anything but empty on her maiden voyage.

So, why now the silence. a shout? A call? I cry out, but don't - no sound issues from my lips, my parched throat, my dry lips - my whole body feeling frail and dehydrated, my eyes dry and sore. I ran my hands over my body, feeling bone and dry stretched skin .. and my sight - I can't see, nothing, utter blackness... is it me or have the lights failed, is that the reason for the blackness and the silence - has this great vessel foundered? Still still the nagging knawing question, why why why did I ever stow away - for what - such a mad impetuos love-struck fool.
