Petshop with hermaphrodites

"That was fun. Both the mating and the flying. Remi's tail is great, I wish I had a tail like that." Sunshine stretched languidly and lay with his ears near the bars, hoping Sky would scratch them. "What surprise? I wasn't hiding anything." He was confused because it didn't occur to him that people might be unfamiliar enough with Mockingwolves to be surprised that he was a hermaphrodite.

(YAY! WELCOME BACK!!!!!!! Hope things are okay, glad to see you!! :rose: )

(Thanks, I'm glad to be back. ;) I'm not completely better, but I'm not in pain so I feel more like playing and writing, and hopefully I will continue to heal until I am at full health again.)

Resplendant Sky smiled at the golden beast's obvious invitation to scratch. Hedonistic brute, he thought, but with a laugh. He reached out, his blunted talons scritching and scratching the massive mockingwolf's head. "Well...you have the most interesting nature of being...both male and female." "Among my people, everyone is one or the other." "I've never even heard of beings like you."

He still wasn't sure what he thought of it. Though it did explain a lot of Sunshine's talk of puppies. Even though it had a male build and a phallus, it could be mated and become pregnant. Amazing.

"That makes you a very rare thing, my fine friend." "I'm not sure if I pity or envy you."

Sunshine gave Sky an odd look, thinking that pity and envy were really different and it ought to be easy to tell which of them you felt. "All mockingwolfs is hermaph'dites, that means both male and female. I think is better neither pity nor envy, but be happy with what you got. Remi's tail is cool, but I like my tail too. I can't fly cause I don't have wings, but I like running and swimming. You is got a nice cock, so even though you don't have a pussy you can still have lots of fun." Sunshine smiled beatifically. Then his attention was caught by a bright red building block and he sat up and started playing with the blocks scattered across the floor of his cage. He looked from the blocks to Sky, wanting to invite Sky to play but realizing that wouldn't work because of the cage bars.

Remi's shift was finally over. YAY! She asked politely if she could be allowed to stay out of her confines within the store until closing time, and she was given permission to roam the grounds, albeit with ankle doohickey in tow. Remi hated that thing. She might not have to always stay in a cage like the others, but she wasn't sure the ankle doohickey was much better. But, nonetheless excited, she offered to take a couple of the dinner trays.. yes, for free. She'd made friends that day. The shopowners raised an eyebrow, laughed a bit, and handed her a couple of trays.

The pretty rabbit-girl headed out, and smiled as she approached the cages of her two friends. "Well hi there, you two. Wanna eat in the courtyard with me? My shift is over, but they're letting me play til closing time. Wanna come? She grinned, unlocking their cages, and not even mentioning to Sky that he'd need to not fly away. The courtyard was open and in the air, no cages surrounding or atop it. Remi knew that Sky would remember the danger she'd be in if he bolted. He'd either behave, or find a way to get all of them out....
Either way, the cages were unlocked and Remi held food, and headed towards the courtyard, her tail swishing luringly behind her.

Sky considered what Sunshine had said as he watched the golden beast play with the blocks. There was a striking wisdom in the words. "Thank you, Sunshine." "You've given me something to think about." He smiled then, feeling he should somehow return the compliment he'd been given. "Thank you for the comment about my, ah, manhood." "Your....pussy looked very inviting." Hell, how was he supposed to return a compliment like that?

Oh well.

He hopped up on the perch that was provided for him, deep in thought. He was lamenting his freedom, all the things he'd lost. Should he also take time to be grateful for what he had? Sunshine was a pleasant, if shocking, companion. And Remi...she was something else.

Hours passed, and 'Sky feel aseep on his perch. He awoke to the sound of a voice he didn't recognize at first. As he opened his hawkish eyes, Remi's lush figure came into focus. "Well hi there, you two. Wanna eat in the courtyard with me? My shift is over, but they're letting me play til closing time. Wanna come?"

He watched her walk away, her tail and ass swinging in the air, and grinned. "Indeed, I do." He gestured for Sunshine to follow, and the three walked out into the courtyard. The sun was setting, and the sky was ablaze with color.

There was no cage. Nothing keeping him in. He could just stretch his wings and fly away. Freedom was right there, his for the taking.

But Remi would pay the price, and probably Sunshine too. He was not strong enough to carry them both. Hells, he wasn't sure he could lift Sunshine's bulk over the walls. He flared his wings, but almost immediately then drooped. For a moment, he felt a spike of anger. There was cruelty in this, even if it was accidental.

He tried to shake it away, but it lingered. "So, what have we to eat tonight?"

Remi smiled, happy to have paid a small portion of her *ahem* pay to have obtained such special treats for the two, and herself.

"For you, my dear Sky, seeds... with berries." She looked at him, a glimmer in her eye. The seeds were plenty special enough, but the berries.... Remi had paid extra for those. Actually, that payment was yet to be collected, but she wasn't worried. The shopowners had always been kind to her in the past.

"And for you, my wonderfully happy Sunshine, I have jerky, and a side of bone. Made bone, of course, no worries - no friends have died." She patted the mockingwolf lightly on the head, then sat in front of her own plate.

"And for me, oats. With a side of honey." She rubbed her palms together. Oats were a regular for her, part of her pay was the better feed, but the honey was something special. And she dug right in, watching to see if the others were pleased with their meals.

Sky smiled as he took the tray. He was used to the seeds...though he did find them degrading. Couldn't they get him some meat now and then? He was a hunter, damn it! But the berries were nice too. Sweet and light, he liked the way the juice filled his mouth as he ate them, slowly, one at a time, savoring the taste. "You are a noble soul, Remi." "This is divine." "I almost...I can almost forget I'm here." "I almost feel free."

He smiled at her, moved more than he cared to admit. "I cannot express what that means to me." "Thank you."

"Yay bone!" Sunshine play-growled and pounced on the bone, enjoying the feel of it clicking and grinding between his teeth. He was bred and trained to be a soldier had no qualms about hunting and eating non-intelligent prey, but he preferred made-bone anyway because it didn't make sharp splinters. He played with the bone a while to whet his appetite before satisfying it with the jerky; making a treat more enjoyable by delaying it was a trick he had learned from obedience training, treats always seemed better when you anticipated them and worked to earn them than when you just got one randomly.

Sky had mentioned before that he liked meat, so Sunshine had offered to share with him, but Sky had explained that birds couldn't chew jerky, they could only eat raw or soft-cooked meat.

After Sunshine had eaten most of the jerky so that his stomach felt satisfied rather than demanding most of his attention, he remembered what he had wanted to ask Remi. "Hey Remi, there were no customers today. How are we supposed to get owners if customers don't come? I like playing with you and sky, but I want to have a real owner and a home..." he trailed off sadly.
