The brand announced in October that it signed an agreement with Tesla that will allow Toyota customers to access Tesla’s 12,000-strong Supercharger network in North America.

It will also adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) on vehicles from 2025, making it easier to find standardized charging infrastructure when out on long journeys.

Toyota's previous CEO, Aiko Toyoda retired last April 1st. He was notorious for rubbishing the development of EV's and basically his company has no competitive EV product. His successors are trying to catch up but have a lot to do. China is the worlds largest car market selling about 240% more cars pa. than are sold in USA. Toyota's sales have collapsed in China and SE Asia mainly because of the rise of BYD as a car as well as a battery maker, they are already the number 3 carmaker in the world after producing none at all 20 years ago. (Ford and GM have slipped to 6th and 7th.)

CATL(Chinese) sell 33% of the worlds EV batteries followed by BYD (Chinese) with 13% and LG(SK) also with about 13%. Total Chinese domination of this market is about 70% plus. Tesla has this year started to install the new M3P battery made by CATL and the Blade battery configuration from BYD . The M3P battery is not solid state, it might best be descried as semi solid using a gell rather than a liquid electrolite.

Tesla has very recently slipped behind BYD as the largest producer of EV's world wide. The M3P can store 15% more energy than the previous batteries but the earliest date that Toyota are suggesting for their new solid state battery is 2028. A solid state battery would be a huge advance in charging capacity/range and fire safety BUT, they are very expensive to make, have a shorter life and suffer corrosion problems.

The Chinese have already got good batteries, The Japanese are 5 years off the pace. The Europeans have product sitting in yards that isn't selling and Tesla are reducing prices to maintain market share The US has the benefit of Trump's 27% import duty to keep EV product out but with BYD selling their smallest EV for $10,700 even that might come under pressure.

Interesting times - lightning fast Tech development but who will win and lose?
