Just a day or two ago there was a "Things you would do to improve Literotica" thread. I made the following suggestion in it but decided to try to take this one step further. As much as I hate to agree with him Amicus made a point in a thread that was discussing scoring and voting, saying that people just bitch about it without trying to change anything. To a degree he is right if we want something we need to make the powers that be aware of it. They are very busy and are not mind readers.

So what I am doing here is making a "petition" for authors to sign up for if they would like to know how many favorites pages they are on. Currently if you are not in the top 250 (which most of us aren't obviously) you have no way of knowing this unless you try to print out your recent history every so many days which is tedious and a little nuts.

Being able to see how many Fav's pages you are on should be something that Lit is capable of. When they made some changes a couple of months ago one of them was that at he bottom of the last page of your story you could see how many views, comments, and favorites pages that story is on. If they can do that they can keep track of how many fav's page each author is on. Even if they only update it monthly it would be great.

In the past I have heard quite a few other author's say that they would like this as well so if you are one of them and see this post add your name and we will see what happens.

I rather think you mean Scouries rather than Amicus. I don't think Amicus comes here to discuss the story file.

The favoritist listing for authors is provided for the top 250 already. And other authors get notified whenever they are favorited in a record that sticks for 30 days. Yes, it's a nice to have, but it's not impossible for an author to keep track of this for him/herself.

This would be helpful, but as a newer writer, I'm curious what other people do about favories. Do you thank readers for doing this with a pm or just keep moving on? Also, how helpful would this be? People seem to favorite a story to book mark it and then when they're done reading it, they unfavor the work. So the number seems to be in a constant flux.

I agree that stories get bookmarked then "booted" quickly but I am talking "Favorite Authors" which usually sticks longer, although the same thing could happen. I will get "picked up" so to speak only to get booted a couple of days later if the person decides my stuff isn't for them.

AS for thanking each reader who does it? It's a nice thought but honestly in my opinion makes you seem a little desperate or to flattered like "They like me! they really really like me!" To me us authors need to maintain an air of mystique. It's like scoring a touchdown but not acting like a fool "Act like you been there before and will be there again." At the end we need to maintain that all knowing mystique as all mighty authors!;)

No it was Amicus. Maybe I will try to find the thread it wasn't about that topic but got to it and he was on his soap box but had a point. and I tried doing the every 30 day thing it is a pain in the ass especially if you get added, kicked, and added by the same clown within a few days (happened a couple of times to me) I just don't think it would be hard for them and it does not hurt to make a suggestion.

BTW how do you get the icons to show up inside the message instedad of outside? It's really annoying.

There are two sets of icons in my view. Ones to the right of the message block (for inside the message) and one at the bottom, to show on the thread. Not showing in yours?

Thanks lovecraft, I was wondering about it. It's nice to be favorited as an author, but I didn't know about the thanking aspect. I agree, either makes you seem desperate or on the make. But thanks to all who favorited my stories or me anyway. : )

I think and don't hold me to this, you need to hit 100 posts for the icons that will show within the post and also to see peoples avatars. I am thinking you are only seeing our names and not the AV's. As for thanking the readers? Simply on your bio page put up something saying "Thank you all for reading and supporting my stories" or if you want even in an authors note at the end of a story saying thank you. That is what I do.
