My little buddy, my parent's schnauser got loose and got hit by a car.

We lucked out. He fractured what would be his kneecap on his front left leg and had tissue lacerations on his upper right front leg.

He will live, but he is a sad sight to see. I went with my dad to pick him up. Poor little fellow is scared to death. Friday they will put a pin in his knee.

People who don't think animals have feelings are crazy.

He has painkillers. No reason for pain when there is medicine to ease suffering.

I am just glad he made it. I'll post some pics of his recovery as we go along. He'll be all right.

Poor little doggy. I'm sorry to hear it Riff. Hope he gets better soon. :)

Sorry to hear about the little dog Riff.

Looks like he's in for some major spoiling while recovering. :)

Aw, Riff...sorry to hear it. :(

Thankfully, it wasn't worse, and I know that you and you family will help speed his recovery with the love and attention the lil guy deserves.

Hugs to you and Peter!

So ironic- my parents have been bitching about him a lot lately. How hyper he gets, how he is always in their feet, etc.- "We should have got a cat..."

They aren't saying that now. My dad was nearly in tears when the doc brought him out all bandaged and stitched.

Sometimes it takes the idea of losing a pain in the ass in order to realize you love the pain in the ass. :)

Hpe he recovers quickly.

Get him some pig ears and snausages. That will help the recovery, I am sure.

Have you been spying on my relationship Riff? :D

my dog got hit by a car in 1993. She fractured her whole pelvis and her legs (and her jaw, i think). We gave her a lot of painkillers and later on laxatives so that she wouldn't get constipated. After 6 weeks she was walking again - with bow legs for the rest of her life but nevertheless.
My parents and I were worried sick when it happend and the phucking driver didn't even stop but left her dying on the road. Thank god our neighbour found her.

She died in 1996 with 12 years. I still miss her

He would like that. I know it! My dad already spoils him with food. Little fucker doesn't know how good he has it.

He can be a BIG pain in the ass, but he is an incredibly intelligent animal (more intelligent that the last schnauser they had- but more aggressive too).

I hope somehow he can learn to fucking watch out for cars when he decides to escape. My parent's do a good job of preventing that- but when an opportunity presents itself and he has it in his mind to roam, he is headstrong, and he hauls ass without even saying see ya. But he doesn't pay attention! He just goes!

We are all hoping that maybe he will learn from the experience? If he is a smart dog, maybe he will? We can only hope.

It's not much different from being a parent, I guess. You can only control and protect your kids so much. Life happens. Isn't it the same with pets?

My cat got its leg all torn up about 3 years ago.

He was in a tree and jumped to grab at a bird or something and got his back left foot in between the trunk and a branch. I don't know how long he was hanging from the tree by his foot before he managed to pull himself loose. This was just want the doctor thinks happend based on his injuries and how his foot was all cut and bruised.

His knee was completly torn apart. I saw the X-rays of one knee compared to the other and the knee was about 50% longer then it should have been from all the tensional and torsional forces.

We couldn't afford the 700 some dollar opperation but he heeled up ok. Walks with a little limp on that leg and can't jump as far now but gets around just fine.

I'm sorry your little guy is hurt, but glad it wasn't more serious. Best wishes on his speedy recovery.

He will be all right.

I just wonder shit like. "What is going through his doggie head?"

Is he panicked? Thank god for medication. Even with the pain killers he whimpered.

Just a dog. Just a dog. Yeah- right.

Hey-

If he had to lose a leg it wouldn't matter.

I got a human bro' with brain-damage and he's happy as shit. I got room for a tri-pie doggie.

That and if you think walking a cute puppie will get you chicks imagine a three leged dog.

You would be unstoppable ever one of your friends would want to borrow the dog.

My poor little Pepper was not so lucky, she died in my arms on the way to the Vet. I still cry.

He is holding his own. Poor little fella is drugged up- but he should be or else he would be in great pain.

Tomorrow he gets a pin put in him.

OH, GOD, RIFF!!

Now I feel completely horrid! I hit a puppy the other day and I stopped to find it. It ran off and was never seen again. Me and my daughter searched everywhere but to no avail.

After reading this I can only imagne the little guy's lying there suffering alone, frightened and hurting...

Sorry that happened to you. I hit a little chow pup once between Christmas and New Years. I just got the feeling I killed someones christmas present.

Worst part about it is that it was not on a residential street- I had to take his corpse and throw it in the woods. I cried like a baby for almost an hour.

And I was at work..... :(
