The man certainly left an impression on pop culture around the world.

Ironically, he said later in life that he regretted ever writing Jaws because of the damage that the story did to Great White shark populations around the world.

Suppose he'll be buried at sea?

Seriously, he should be a hero to everyone here. One great book, and he was financially set to write and do whatever he wanted to.

Actually, though, because he popularised them, public interest led to much of the study that brought us the deeper understanding we now have of sharks, IMO.

I hope Cthulu and the Elder Gods of the Deep Abyss will not eat his soul too much :rose:

(sorry about the convolute sentence there)

The movie was great.

The book really, truly and deeply sucked in my opinion. I ran it through a shredder and used it to line the bottom of a hamster cage. It was more useful and entertaining there.

However, RIP Mr. Benchley.

Let me guess... shark attack?

Bad Selena, bad kitty!

Seriously... I'm sad... I loved the movie... I even read some of his other stuff (The Beast, etc.)
