Within every individual there lies a central truth that defines that individual and how he or she sees the world. What's yours?

My personal truth:
Paradox and contradiction are functions of the mind, not of reality.

How does this figure into who I am? It contributes greatly on how I see the world... I always strive to see things from as many points of view as possible. I am only human though; unfortunately I don't always see things as openly as I should.

Yep, the glass is always half full, not half empty :)

"Everything happens for the best."

This was my grandma's favorite saying, but years later I realize how much it has helped me get through and learn from life. We may know what we want, but when it doesn't work out, there usually is another reason for it not to. I have found this over and over again when looking back on all the troublesome points, and by trusting that certain things are just not meant to be usually results in finding something more amazing and beautiful a bit further down the road.

Mine.......

Treat people how you would want to be treated.......

Or my personal favourite, A smile is contagious share one today.....;)

Thoughts that shape my truth:

There are no guarantees.
What's right for me, may be wrong for another.
The roadmap may not include the rugged trails. Find your own way.
Live hard and love even harder.

That is good that you seek to understand others..... it also means that you have your own mind, that you may not agree with all others.... this makes you a good person as you are will try to understand but believe in who you are in the end :)

Still... its a hard thing to do. It's even harder to try to be forgiving. Thank you for having faith in me. :)

Truth is subjective, and it's not always the other person who's inner eye needs glasses.

Popularity and looks can only get you so far, and that ground can be lost very fast.

When writing, write from heart, soul, or other parts of yourself, not from an urge to prove something to another.

Do whatever else you will, just DO NOT TOUCH MY COFFEE

Love Life Loving

I create my reality.

I'm not religious in a sense of adhering to the tenents of one single organized religion. Steadfastly, i claim agnoticism. However, i think the organizing and central personal truth and guiding principle of my life is that which seems to have an analogue in every world religion and is epitomized in the Christian admonishment to
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary.
Judaism

Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
Buddhism

No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.
Islam

Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself.
Bahá’í Faith

Tse-kung asked, "Is there one word that can serve as a principle of conduct for life?" Confucius replied, "It is the word 'shu' -- reciprocity. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire."
Confucianism

In happiness and suffering, in joy and grief, we should regard all creatures as we regard our own self.
Jainism

Be charitable to all beings, love is the representative of God.
Shintoism

An' it harm none, do what thou wilt.
Wicca

That which is good for all and anyone, for whomsoever-that is good for me...What I hold good for self, I should for all. Only Law Universal is true Law.
Zoroastrianism

Do not do to others that which would anger you if others did it to you.
Socrates, Greek Antiquity, ca. 470-399 BCE

One going to take a pointed stick to pinch a baby bird should first try it on himself to feel how it hurts.
African Traditional Religion, Yoruba Proverb (Nigeria)

That we are *alone* striving for personal enlightenment on this chaotic realm that moves and shifts the more we play.

Yet we make the time –which is just absolutely fleeting- to help others along the way.

Black_Bird..this quote popped into my head as I read your post.

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
I am large, I contain multitudes.
~Walt Whitman,

The most important person in the world to me is the one that I am talking to right now. Give your full attention and respect to whatever you happen to be doing.

Mine is a bit corny, but sometimes when I'm really stressed about something, or being spiteful, it helps to remember -

'You only live once'

(I guess I will have a million ppl arguing with me now!)

Well
