Personal Symbols

Thanks...

Havn't found mine yet cuz I'm working toward my AV... This post will help so thanx...

Hi B_b. I use symbols a great deal to make external what's going on inside me.
So, for instance, when I couldn't write or even face a keyboard, I chose an old slide rule that I loved as a kid, to represent my desire to write again.
I've got a little glass hedgehog to sybolise my desire to be close to someone special - a bit prickly on top, but soft underneath and full of light.

There's others and it helps me explain to the kids whats going on inside me.

The whole idea is to distinguish the desires, emotions, needs which live in me and distinguish them from me myself. They are what I produce - they are not equivalent to me. So there's no symbol for me.

We've lost our understanding of the symbolic in our excitement at the effectiveness of science.

My US history teacher in HS used the Fraggles to show which mood he was in. I believe the eggplant showed his anger. I happened to see that one a lot.

Damn, I hadn't thought about that in awhile.

Yes and I'm going to get a little fluffy duck to symbolise my inner cheerfulness. And I'm going to take great care of it.

I'll keep it beside the slide rule - inner mirth by mathematical inducktion.

My personal symbol is the a flying raven with a hexangle on its back.

I'm a very symbolic creature... I love symbols! I don't like most company symbols, though; they tend to represent repressive entities instead of ideas or people.
