I met my current wife after answering a personal ad. This was just before the days of internet dating sites. I typed my response and put in an envelope with a $5 bill. The newspaper forwarded it to her and she called me the day she received it.

The real secret is not in writing an ad. It is in writing the response.

I met my wife through an ad I placed in a newspaper. That was almost 16 years ago. She called the contact number in the newspaper; I was interested and called her back, and we were married less than a year later. Barring the unexpected, we will celebrate our 15th anniversary in July, and I don't think either of us has regretted it.

She was a widow and I was a widower, and we were both 55 years old, so neither of us had very many illusions. I think this is a good way for people to meet, as long as they are sincere, because there is no coyness or game-playing. They both know what they want and what the other wants, and they can go from there.

Did you ever consider that they say they are looking for a relationship because they believe that's what women want? There is an old saying: Men put up with the relationship for the sake of the sex and women put up with the sex for the sake of the relationship. This is not strictly true, but there is a lot of truth to it, and men will lie if they think it will get them what they want.

Did you ever say something like: I am seeking hot sex, not a relationship. I want somebody to eat my pussy and whose cock I can suck and who wants to fuck. Who needs long walks on the beach? That would have gotten you some responses.

amazingly, that is actually very close to what I put! I was very very explicit in only wanting a fuck buddy. I actually used the term 'sex toy with a heartbeat'.

and still I got (and occasionally still do!) lots of interest but when it was really very clear that I had no interest in them outside of sex, they got miffed and walked!

So actually, I think an awful lot of men want some kind of meaningful relationship just as much as women do. They just like the idea of no strings sex.

As one of them put it, "I can't be a lump of meat for you to just use and discard".

Harumph!! The younger generation is certainly going to the dogs! Why, in my day, I or any other young man would have jumped at the chance of hot and easy sex with no strings attached.

More seriously, most men really are looking for a serious relationship, but they are also looking for easy nookie.

I have a meaningful relationship - and it means a helluva lot to me.

However, discourtesy of the menopause, I haven't had sex this millennium.

To add complication, I take pride in giving blood, which rules out sex for money.

PS As better than nothing, I do watch porn, but 99% of what I find leaves me dissatisfied: I can watch a man coming by just looking at myself wank; watching a woman really come is much harder to find.

there is actually a personal ads section here, and also, there is little difference between paying for sex and casual sex. use a fucking condom!

There is a big difference: the former is a specific question on the blood donation form; the latter isn't.
