I was thinking this morning in the shower- I don't feel quite as rushed so far this holiday season as I usually do. I think one reason is that the calendar is perfect this year. Thanksgiving is at the absolute earliest date it could be on the 22nd. (Always the 4th Thursday in November for you non-Americans.) That gives the maximum number of critical days between Thanksgiving and Christmas for fitting everything in to hectic lives. Mine, in particular.

And Christmas has a weekend immediately before, for last minute preparations.

I love this calendar. Just don't ask me next year when Thanksgiving will be November 28th!

Unfortunately, the 22nd is also the date of JFK's assassination, so I'm always just a little bummed out that day--I was just a small child at the time, but it was my first look at the outside world.

Thanksgiving is a special time to me because...

It is also the week of my Birthday, last year it WAS my birthday, and I have had so much to be thankful for!

I have a family that loves me, and friends that do too.

I have recently met a wonderful lady, and I get the feeling she is pretty happy to have met me too ;)

I get to hang out with some great people while I watch my favorite football team (though this is not really a blessing lately) play.

I have two wonderful pet cats that I love as if they were my children, they provide me with endless hours of entertainment and companionship.

I have neighbors who care about each other and look out for one another.

I have a job that pays well enough for me to do things I really want to do (although not always when I want to do them).
