people who are not citizens of the United States to vote?

I say citizenship is silly. You should be allowed to vote where you pay taxes. Foreigners living and working in America, Americans living and working abroad.

What's the bitch?

Most people in America (18 and older) don't vote.

well that was true before obama, but obama did pull in votes from 18-21 big time. now, most of those people realize obama wasn't a dream, as they are living the obama nightmare

course you would say that, you are a socialist

Poor record keeping is what's leading to potential fraud in the elections system. And election supervisors say registering non-citizens will continue until they get more help.

Officials we spoke to say non U.S. citizens are voting in Lee and Collier counties.

"If there is a change by one vote and somebody's voted that really has no right to be voting," said Lee County Supervisor of Elections Sharon Harrington.

Nearly 100 registered are now under investigation for possible voter fraud.

"It could change the whole complexion of an election," Harrington said.

We found those 100 people after reviewing jury excusal forms. We compared the names of those who said they couldn't serve because they were not U.S. citizens to those listed on Florida's voter registration rolls.

"I was surprised that there were quite that many," Harrington said.

So how is this happening?

In some cases, human error got them on the voter rolls.

We found one Naples resident, who clearly marked she was not a U.S. citizen, but was registered anyway.

But the NBC2 Investigators also found many of those registered were signed up while at the Tax Collector's Office getting a drivers license.

We asked Susan Allen, the Lee County Tax Collector's Office Customer Service Director, if the system was just based on trust and she answered, "Definitely."

Up until two years ago, no one asked for proof of citizenship.

Allen: You're either giving us the birth certificate, a us passport or your naturalization document.
NBC2: So, it's a lot harder now to lie?
Allen: Definitely.

It may be harder now. But since you only have to renew your license every eight years, it'll take another six to weed out all the non-citizens.

Harrington says what we really need is a national verification system.

"We don't have any investigative powers or anyway to check this information. As we're checking them into our system, it would be nice to have that," she said.

We took that concern to Florida U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.

"So, there is the opportunity to verify, through the social security number when they register and that should be a way of doing it," he said.

But Harrington says that's not good enough because voters can register without a social security number - leaving the potential for abuse for years to come.

Based on our investigation, both election offices say they'll now request copies of every jury excusal form where residents say they can't serve because they're not a citizen.

Both the Lee and Collier supervisors of elections sent letters to the people we found asking them to verify citizenship.

We should have an update on that in a few weeks.

While we only looked at Southwest Florida two largest counties, this absolutely affects other counties in the state.

And we're told the state is looking into implementing a similar policy to compare jury excusal forms with voter rolls at all supervisor of elections offices.

yikes! gotta love those in government as they love to say:

"can't fix the system"
"not my problem"
"it was this way when I got here"
"I just don't care, I'm here for the pension"

I'm not going to vote.

It's a pain-in-the-ass to get the absentee ballot from the embassy and they all suck anyway.

I live in a country with privatized social security, no minimal wage, no estate tax, nationwide "right-to-work" law, a private school voucher system and more draconian laws for dealing with illegal immigrants than any US state.

Where do you live?

I had a thread up on this

in fact, soon we will be told

that since WE make such a huge impact on teh WORLD

the WORLD should be allowed to vote

I PREDICTED IT!

sadly, I live in obama land. but don't worry, yes we can - vote him out of office

Neverendingbitching and moaning joins the other Obama trolls on iggy.

Hopefully you get killed in a car crash.

The right to vote was hard won by our founders, we shouldn't give it away. I don't understand why anyone thinks a non-citizen should have a say in who our leaders are or what our laws are. If they want a voice, they should become citizens.

We are constantly told by the left here that this never happens, it's only a figment of our imagination. Ask Luke, the idiot who believes no illegal aliens are voting in America.

Why should we spend millions to fix a problem that doesn't exist?

To date, no one has shown any evidence of actual voter fraud that has occurred in any election beyond a few individual examples. Spending millions to stop 3 people from voting just isn't worth it.

make you feel bad for people like Zipman and the other Pro obama people. desperate times call for desperate to do desperate acts. can you imagine if 10% of obama's votes, were by non American citizens? what would that have done to the elections?

remember, vote early and often till WE get the results we need.
(quote from obama's father)

(okay obama's political father)

actually...there was an unoffical poll right around the time of the 2008 elections that asked Canadians if they could vote in the American elections who would they vote for

turns out it was 80% Obama as opposed to 20% McCain

and your quote is Al Capone.... seriously.. you should try reading a book one day
