Pennies. What are they used for?

You can't use them in drink machines, candy/snack machines, newspaper machines, condom machines, gumball machines or any kind of machine.

Why do they keep making them?

The are used to annoy people.

I use them to give to the kids to play store with. Mind you, then I tend to find them all over the house :)

*smirk*

In my parents day.....they used to make those things that were worth 1/10th of a penny......geez I can't remember what they were called.....

Anybody remember?

i'd say pennies are used so that places can charge $x.99 for something and then have tax added and it actually be more than that

but did you really want just our thoughts... or to ask us about pennies?

My gumball machine still takes pennies and I keep a supply of them right next to it for the kids.

the 1/10th penny was a mill....used to play with them as a wee tot...i seem to remember them being red and plastic....

pennies now are used to pay for thoughts and to hold down the one gallon whiskey bottle in my bedroom...that's all

Cheyenne you have all the fun stuff can I come over and be a kid.............;)

I used a bowl full of them when I ran out of Halloween candy one year. Let the kids grab a hand full, they seemed to like that better than candy!:D

Pennies are for when you find little old country stores that still offer penny candy. :)

Pennies always come in handy... @ least they do for me.

I always have an "x" amount in my car, the come in handy when I want to buy a happy meal or when I just need some pennies to complete a dollar .. and so forth.

My favorite "penny save " was when I went to court for a certain fine & the judge told me he would reduce the fine IF I paid $90 right there & then ... I tried to tell him I only had like $88 but he said $90 .. so off I went to my car & searched and searched and I completed the fine with pennies. I go back in & then the teller lady asks for my money & I lay it down on the counter pennies & all.

I showed them ! :p ;)

Pennies are for when you want to show a child the value of looking at the smaller stuff, or for fountains.

My dad taught me to respect pennies in two ways. First off, he let me play penny anti poker with him to suppliment my allowance. It was fun, and I won money off him (and he actually did try to beat me) nearly every week. The second way was the pennie bin. We had an old, rather large, tin in our hall closet that all the pennies found vacuuming, etc, went into. I was allowed, when I wanted money for something, to roll pennies. Every roll that I finished, I got to keep.

We save them, roll them, and take them back to the bank where they belong.
Thankfully, we don't have many of them. Can't use them for anything here.

For kids? Stuffed animals, coloring books, childrens' books, and a piano that I let them play even when they don't know how.

Cool a piano!

Sounds fun! I'll bring the aspirin!

If you go to the museum of science, you can put your penny in a machine and let it get stretched into a design. All for only 50 cents!
