When Republicans and Democrats seemed to be making headway on the Southern Border scenario, Donald Trump dashed cold water on the bipartisan plan. He wants Republicans to quash the bill and to make it an election talking point for him to use against Joe Biden. Several Republican legislators today took issue with that wanting to move forward and accomplish a contentious hot-button topic on security at the border. It seemed to be making progress and now ...

What's your two cents worth on the matter?

Trump knows.that if he can't exploit fear and hate of the brown people, he can't win the election. And if he loses the election, there is no way to mitigate the legal consequences of his past crimes.

Eyeing the presidency, Nixon undermined the LBJ administration with its peace negotiations with the Viet Cong. An angry LBJ stated that Nixon “had blood on his hands.”

Reagan, eyeing the presidency, foreshadowed a continued criminal theme of his 8 year term by running a covert operation with the Iranian leaders who held American captives - ensuring their release only AFTER Reagan had defeated Carter and was sworn in.

Republican leaders, the day of Obama's inauguration, met at the Caucus Room to discuss implementing plans to obstruct any policy he wished to enact.

In 2015, 47 Republican senators undermined American foreign diplomacy by signing an open letter to the Iranian government indicating they had no intention of honoring Obama's nuclear deal.

The 2016 and 2020 elections and the factually verified involvement of foreign entities backing the Republican nominee for the presidency.

We sugarcoat and have become numb to cowardly Democratic leadership constantly deferring to civility on these many and continued instances of behavior that go beyond policy differences and/or debate to be held on an open congressional floor but the word that it needs to be called is sedition bordering on, if not, outright treason against the United States of America.

I have been unable to care about the southern border from across the nation, so I'll sit back with some popcorn. Some border crossers have been sent to northern states. If they bring cooking skills, then maybe I'll see their culinary influence. My opnion of tacos rose after I bought some at a real taqueria, not Taco Bell.

The problem with the proposed border bill is that at the core it's an amnesty bill.

This is a thing that America has been saying no to since the last Amnesty Bill was passed and signed.

There has to be a better way. And that better way cannot reward lawbreakers no matter how much someone thinks they deserve it. Further, the law is specific that if someone enters the US unlawfully they CANNOT be naturalized. Thus amnesty shouldn't be an option because it violates the specific language of the law as well as its intent.

I cannot find any verified information about about what actually has been negotiated at this point. I don’t think anyone has. Republicans are complaining they haven’t seen anything. Until we see an actual bill, there’s not much point in debating it.

Based on what I'm hearing and reading (media reporting not insider info) it's an amnesty bill. Lots of other crap in it but at its core it's an amnesty bill.

I haven’t seen anything anywhere that’s sourced. Senator Lankford is taking a methodical approach to the negotiations and is wisely avoiding negotiating through the media. Nor is he appearing on cable news outlets making polarizing comments. I’m going to wait until I see what comes out before making any assumptions.

For clarification, could you please inform us on what last Amnesty Bill you are referring to?

My guess is that any compromise bill (read: bill that has a chance at passing) will likely include some form of amnesty for a small group. Rejecting a bill just for that reason is dumb.

The items I've seen proposed all seem to work, including capping asylum, increased work permits and enhanced security.

Yeah, starting with Obama, and maybe even Bill Clinton ("the first black President"), "republicans" have barely concealed their un-American activities, though they made some (the slightest) effort to appear to be doing things constitutionally.

The corrupt orange traitor has done away with all the pretense, and has gone full - out in the open - traitor.

In response to the thread topic:

The corrupt orange traitor sabotaged the "republican" immigration reform and border security bill in 2018, and that orange POS is sabotaging this current attempt at a bipartisan immigration reform and border security bill.

🤬

JFC

SAD!!!

Agreed.
I'd also include Marco Rubio sabotaging his own immigration reform bill as well.
The presumptive republican nominee has indicated his desire on this bill. It's to our detriment any time we treat the Republican Party as one that negotiates honestly or is even a party serving its constituents.
