Hello Authors. I'm hoping someone can help me with these questions. I submitted a story last week that was rejected because it could be read from the upload. I was having trouble with the disk the day before I sent it, but it came up okay just before I submitted it.
On the second try I saved it to my hard drive, made the upload from there and resubmitted it. It came up in the text box on the submission page so I assume it went through.

It's been quite a few days since then, and the view submissions page says there have been 3 views, but still no decision about acceptance or rejection.

This is the second story I've written. I think I did a much better job with this story than I did with my first. I am very anxious to see if anyone agrees.

So the questions are:
1-Generally how long does it take to have a decision on a story?

2-Are stories usually read or viewed multiple times before the acceptance/ rejection decision is made?

Thanx for your patience with a nervous fledgling "author".

Yes, it's in the pipeline. Stories can take three, four days, perhaps even more before appearing; and they get multiple views (I haven't worked out why). While it's still pending it'll stay showing as pending.

If it was rejected you'd need to look at your submissions list and you'd get a link saying why. A little more patience; or check your submissions profile again.

Hello friend

It can take a few days even a week to get a story through checking/edit by laurel and her staff in busy times is my understanding, so don't panic yet.

The views could be due to checking being carried out in chunks or re-reading bits rather than reading the whole thing at once, maybe laurel is going over it and massaging it about for final inclusion.

I'm not an expert, but rejection usually takes less time than inclusion I think.

pops.........:)

Rejection takes the same amount of time as inclusion. She reads it and either accepts it or sends it back to the author. She doesn't edit the stories, if they need work, she sends it back to the author for that. The only exceptions being rape stories and erotic horror which she sometimes perfers to consider for a bit.

The views come from you, each time you've looked at the story it's logged as a view. You'll get one more when she looks at it. One of the problems with opening the story and reading it is that when you press submit, you put your story at the end of her "queue". The stories are read in the chronological order in which they were submitted.

So, if your stories says only "pending" it's in her queue and you just have to wait.

Used to be I could count on 3 days unless I uploaded a Word file. Lately, it has stretched to 4 days, so I think Laurel must be getting more stories than before?

I know that most of my stories have been viewed 3 or 4 times during the "pending" stage. And no, it's not because I go back to the submission page. I think it is just Laurel looking at the story and queing it.

Thank you for the responses. My story was approved and is up on the site. Please take a look and, I hope, provide some feedback. I appreciate and respect so many of the authors on this site. The stories I have read here have made me want to try my hand at writing erotic fiction.

I don't know how to do the link thing, so I'll tell you the story is called "Oh. What a Shock" by daggett.
