Pending since 7/16:25

I know there are a ton of threads like this but I’m at a loss. Submitted on July 16 and still in pending. I’ve had two other stories publish since when I submitted that one. I have PMed Laurel as was suggested in other threads but no response.

From what I understand if I re-edit that one and resubmit it just puts me to the back of the queue again. Help?

Assuming that your PM was sent at least a day or two ago so Laurel has had a chance to read it and investigate (she likely gets quite a few messages), it probably means that the delay was not related to a technical error on the site's part. That may mean that your story was set aside because she decided that it needed more than a cursory examination before publication. That process probably cannot be hurried. My best guess as to why certain stories get held back is that they trigger some kind of detector, whether for potential AI or other prohibited content. That's not to say that you did anything wrong, just that you used enough keywords or the like that her hypothetical detection scripts didn't make it a quick 'green light' for posting.
Short version: you're just going to have to wait it out, probably. Sorry.

There seems to be a delay at present. Both I and another author who normally get stories published within 48 hours are waiting for submissions from July 25th to be posted.

That’s not as long as you, but there is definitely a delay right now. And there may be other issues with your story.

Thanks for the update. The good news is that it is a standalone and not a chapter in a bigger work. I guess I continue to wait (and yes I sent the PM on Friday)
