Pelvic Rest and other cruel aspects of pregnancy

My poor spouse and I are on pelvic rest-again-and I am so peeved, yes peeved. I know it is for the good of the baby, and I am sure it won't be permanent. However, it sucks- I can't climax, have intercourse, swim or bathe. So there goes my favorite forms of exercise and relaxation. And since I am miserable, I am pouting, and making my darling hubby suffer too. I am not even able to read erotica as it, well it produces certain effects. I am off to some dull parenting and baby product websites for a few days.

Doesn't sound good, but I have only heard of bed rest, and never anything that says no bathing.

"Pelvic rest" is basicly leaving your pelvic anatomy alone except for cleaning purposes. Usually, it is just a restriction on intercourse (the cervical stimulation can bring on labor) but can be extreme as described above.
Pelvic rest is recommended sometimes for patients with bony injuries, surgical recovery, and certain illnesses as well as late term pregnancy. (I was put on pelvic rest in my first trimester with my first kid. A serious pisser.)

Congrats on the baby hope everything goes well for you and the hubby. Remember it only lasts for a little while it will all be done soon and you and the hubby can get back to somewhat normal life. Merelan, I will accept your lovely offer only if I get to borrow orgasms from you and Skitten when we are finally off the pelvic hell. My midwife feels that my cervix has a vascular issu-and it may simply be that a vein is very close to the surface, and therefor is "bruised" by hubby's vigorous attempts. The good news is we heard the heartbeat today and it sounded wonderful!!! One more week then we gt to try "gentle, shallow penetration"-WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!
