Many who participate regularly at the BDSM section of these forums seem to take great pleasure with regard to 'eye candy', be it computer generated graphic arts or photographs and code which decorate our signatures and/or avatars, etc ect. We even have a few threads at the BDSM Cafe board which are dedicated to the expressions of these areas of our enjoyment. Although many who are involved with BDSM are not comfortable, and/or do not feel it would be 'safe' to post actual photos of themselves, and/or their faces ... most still find other 'visual modes' of expressing who they are, what they enjoy, etc.

Over the years as a computer user, i've accumulated a huge collection of wallpapers in my continual desire for dressing up what could otherwise be a very boring, humdrum desktop. my desktop has become an outlet of personal expression, as well as a place to display many of my tiny animations, abstract doodles, & photos. Most times, i make my own wallpapers rather than make use of those created by others. i usually toss photos together of the kids, and our pets, and sometimes i design my own from scratch using Paint Shop Pro, Ulead Animator, Corel, etc ect.

my need for creating my own wallpapers does not serve as just a form of decoration though, i don't always choose my favorite colors (i have many favorites, teal being highest on that list) for the main background of wallpaper and instead opt for colors which are soothing & reduce any glare to the eyes. And, i dislike it when my view of the wallpapers are covered by icons, and folders .. or when the text/titles of those folders & icons colors do not match the color scheme. i dislike it so much that i eliminate many of the folders entirely (replaced with a single black pixel on a transparent background and saved as an .ico file), and even create many of my own icons. Even my pc clock & window frames etc are not immune, as they are customized to my personal likings, as well. Many times i layer my own tiny animations on top of the wallpaper (set as 'Desktop Items' in Win2000).

Cuz HELL .... It's *my* computer, my desktop .... and i'll be daymned if it doesn't look exactly the way i like it to. heh ..

Sometimes though, when i am too busy to care, not feeling quite creative, and get tired of the way the desktop looks ... i just leave it black or some other non-glaring shade. i'm also neglectful at times, allowing a ton of downloaded files and crap to accumulate and clutter the desktop. Sometimes i clean the desktop just like my 5 year old daughter cleans her room: i create a new folder on the desktop & toss all the crap in there until i feel like deciding what to keep and what to toss into the recycle bin. The folder serves pretty much in the same way that under her bed, or in her closet serves. ..lmao

i wonder if others might enjoy posting a screen capture of their own desktops as well, and share them with others on this thread. i think it could be fun to see what everyone else's desktops look like. i'm including a screen capture of my desktop below.

For anyone who may not know how, or does not have an image program which is capable of capturing their desktop image ... IRFANVIEW is simple enough to use, and does the job well.

I am not creative in the sense of photoshoping images to create my desktops. Although, I do take lots of pictures that end up on my desktop depending on my mood. Also, having a laptop that travels to friends houses to perform some computer work I have to be very carful what my pop up. As having just come back from doing work on a friends network I have a simple wallpaper up right now.
I was cruising out to the fishing grounds for a day of Tunafishing and took this nice picture of the sunrise.

i understand the need to keep the desktop more toward the 'g-rated' side of it all. i have many wallpapers that i can't display due to having kids in the house, or the possibility of family & or friends dropping by, some of whom do not know of our of D/s relationship and BDSM stuff.

Very pretty sunset Tuna1! Thanks for sharing. :)
Here's a sunset photo i snagged last evening from our balcony which overlooks the river here. Can't see the river much though .. too many leaves on the trees to see it at this time of the year.

My wife/slave shares my laptop and I place pictures as wallpaper based on my mood. When she bootsup she gets a good idea of the mood I am in at the time. One of those wallpapers are attached.......

Lucky treat for her to discover at times ... i bet !!

Here, my Master has His PC set up in the bedroom ... and as mine is in the living room & shared with our girls.. (which is the only place i allow the kids to use a PC online ... rather than behind a closed door etc ect) .. i almost always (sometimes we are 'childfree' on weekends) have to keep the images displayed, on the G-rated edge. i could start changing the wallpapers on Fridays when no kids are here though. Hmm ... :)

my desktop changes daily. here are some pics that are in the cycle.

I also have to keep mine G rated, but I get bored quickly. I like to put places I've seen and places I want to see on my desktop. Here's some of mine. The first one is the one I have right now.

Yay for the falls! Has it frozen in the last ten winters or so?

My bed is directly on the floor, and my closet only has clothes. As for the state of the desktop, you can blame Firefox's download system.

Ahh .. when i used a download assist program with my dialup .. it used to do the same thing. Bummer .. as i recall. ;) Bed on the floor is a good thing. No dust bunnies crawling out from under to ravage you in the night that way. And don't get me started about closets. my Master got the idea to clean our walkin closet out yesterday. Stored all of the winter clothes away in dresser drawers and put most of our summer clothes on hangers. We ended up with a huge pile of 'no longer want it/like it' and 'no longer fits' items .. to sell on Ebay. Not complaining though, .. He helped. It's just not one of my favorite chores. But .... the closet looks very organized now, and so much easier to toss together well co-ordinated outfits. :)

Nah the icons aren't that small, I just had to reduce the image quite a bit, since I have a 17" flatscreen.

This is the original size http://kennl.dk/div/homedesktop2.jpg

And yes I like that picture as well :)
And it obviously doesn't fit here now, with my obvious realization of just how teeny a screen i have. my monitor is now suffering from size related inadequacy issues... heh.

Thanks ShyGuy .. i like seeing what other icons/programs others have.

I don't think so. It rarely freezes over in oregon, and they move pretty fast. I've never made it up to that bridge you see in the picture, but K has. He says it's awesome.
