Many who participate regularly at the BDSM section of these forums seem to take great pleasure with regard to 'eye candy', be it computer generated graphic arts or photographs and code which decorate our signatures and/or avatars, etc ect. We even have a few threads at the BDSM Cafe board which are dedicated to the expressions of these areas of our enjoyment. Although many who are involved with BDSM are not comfortable, and/or do not feel it would be 'safe' to post actual photos of themselves, and/or their faces ... most still find other 'visual modes' of expressing who they are, what they enjoy, etc.
Over the years as a computer user, i've accumulated a huge collection of wallpapers in my continual desire for dressing up what could otherwise be a very boring, humdrum desktop. my desktop has become an outlet of personal expression, as well as a place to display many of my tiny animations, abstract doodles, & photos. Most times, i make my own wallpapers rather than make use of those created by others. i usually toss photos together of the kids, and our pets, and sometimes i design my own from scratch using Paint Shop Pro, Ulead Animator, Corel, etc ect.
my need for creating my own wallpapers does not serve as just a form of decoration though, i don't always choose my favorite colors (i have many favorites, teal being highest on that list) for the main background of wallpaper and instead opt for colors which are soothing & reduce any glare to the eyes. And, i dislike it when my view of the wallpapers are covered by icons, and folders .. or when the text/titles of those folders & icons colors do not match the color scheme. i dislike it so much that i eliminate many of the folders entirely (replaced with a single black pixel on a transparent background and saved as an .ico file), and even create many of my own icons. Even my pc clock & window frames etc are not immune, as they are customized to my personal likings, as well. Many times i layer my own tiny animations on top of the wallpaper (set as 'Desktop Items' in Win2000).
Cuz HELL .... It's *my* computer, my desktop .... and i'll be daymned if it doesn't look exactly the way i like it to. heh ..
Sometimes though, when i am too busy to care, not feeling quite creative, and get tired of the way the desktop looks ... i just leave it black or some other non-glaring shade. i'm also neglectful at times, allowing a ton of downloaded files and crap to accumulate and clutter the desktop. Sometimes i clean the desktop just like my 5 year old daughter cleans her room: i create a new folder on the desktop & toss all the crap in there until i feel like deciding what to keep and what to toss into the recycle bin. The folder serves pretty much in the same way that under her bed, or in her closet serves. ..lmao
i wonder if others might enjoy posting a screen capture of their own desktops as well, and share them with others on this thread. i think it could be fun to see what everyone else's desktops look like. i'm including a screen capture of my desktop below.

For anyone who may not know how, or does not have an image program which is capable of capturing their desktop image ... IRFANVIEW is simple enough to use, and does the job well.
