When I was little, I read Rainbow Fish and it really fucked with me- I think because I was so sick. I read it while in the hospital getting a blood transfusion- there were a bunch of books and crayons and shit there, I was... four or five- and I read this book and at the end I was like, "So... can you just rip your scales off then? Why would you rip off your scales and give them to people!? Aren't those fish flesh!? WTF, book?" Because at 4 you're used to reading books that have a "point" to them- and this one read like it would have a moral, like everyone would stop being jealous and accept him for who he is at the end, instead they went the "rip off your flesh and give it away" method.

I haven't re-read it since then, so I don't know if that memory is accurate or not.

As far as the pedophile thing- I'm from the South, ok... look, I don't condone rape- but I think that fucking someone underage is not rape. But I don't pretend to have the moral code to be the one to identify that sweet-age where one is officially allowed to have a sexuality.
