C'mon, there's satisfaction in paying bills. It's the satisfaction of knowing that they are paid, you're still a good, debt-paying person, and that the credit card companies will be spamming your snail mailbox.

Of course, as long as you're not overly concerned with the diminishing numbers in the "balance" column, you can actually find bill-paying to be a happy occasion.

Quit looking at me like that.

You know what? I actually agree with you. When I have money in the bank, I get so much satisfaction out of writing the checks, putting them in the envelopes, putting a stamp on them, and dropping then in the mail.

Good for you!:)
Unfortunately, it just depresses me futher when paying bills. Maybe its seeing that I have to pay so much for crap that I don't even use *sigh* Or maybe its seeing that my bank account never seems to go past double digits...me broke, me thinks.

I get it. All it takes is the memory of not being able to pay them that makes it a pleasurable release.

It is satisfying because you're honoring your responsibilities. However, I'd love to say 'fuck it' once in awhile and just splurge beyond my means.

killer muffin....

I have found that financially repsonsible women tend to swallow with a smile? Can you confirm that?

Thanks.

I hate bills. I am so in debt. I can't wait for them to be paid.

Yes, there is great satisfaction in paying them.

Too bad they don't stop arriving in my postbox the next month. :(

I have as many of my bills paid automatically as possible. I don't like taking time to write out and mail checks.

You are so right Killer Muffin

after 6 months of paying off bills getting back down to a zero balance {it was a hacked work winter}

It was so sweet to pay a bill and watch the balance get smaller and smaller and the load on my shoulders decrease

paying the bills is ok ... its the bit before when you're working out your money and deciding which ones to pay :)

lending money is what i hate my sister owes me £380 more than that i think but we both lost track ... and i dont even earn very much money its just im good at saving which means people borrow off me

I'm so much in debt it's ridiculous. I've been trying to dig myself out since June now and I still don't see too much of a difference :(

The only cheery thing about paying bills for me are my Felix the cat checks.

Why do the bills seem to come in the mail exactly on payday? It kills the buzz of getting paid. I came home Friday to a mailbox full of the nasty things.

March 15th 2002 I was about $2000 behind in bills rent, phone, electric, cable, what not.

next friday I make the final payment to zero my bills once once more.

hopefully the week after I make a purchase of a 7cubic foot freezer so when I have extra money ahead I can get bread and stuff on special and have food when the money isn't as a bundant.

The week after that I start prepaying some of my ahead rents and bills and get ahead of them before work gets behind me.

I hate "mother's day!" It means I actually have to leave my cozy little apartment and go to the mailbox and rental office. :(

Don't get too depressed that you don't seem to be making a dent in your debt. I only have a $2000 credit limit and it takes almost a year to bring it back to zero if I max it out.

It took nearly five years to bring it back to zero the first time after I retired and start building a bit of savings to help keep it from zooming back up everytime I have a big electric bill.

Agreed.

The comfort of knowing you are secure and your bills are paid can be quite enjoyable.

PowrDragn

i agree. I simply can't relaxe or take time off and enjoy it if my bills arnt paid. guess I'm wierd??

patient1 is right on the money. Not being able to pay your bills and having the money to pay them makes all the difference in the world. I've managed to stay on top of my game even though I lost my job at the beginning of the summer.

That makes me proud.

I am so looking forward to eventually paying my bills. For starters, I would love to get these back:
  • Cable
  • Internet access (I'm using a borrowed line at the moment)
  • A credit rating that isn't in the toilet
And soon appearing in a theatre near you if I don't pull some money from my ass:
  • Electricity (think A/C in Houston in summer)
  • Food
I have just one word of advice: don't get divorced. If you do get divorced, don't bend over with guilt and hand your ex the K-Y.

It's orgasmic...

especially after I have the opporunity to pay my mortgage off this year...

and then say to the bank...

that monthly 'allowance' is MINE!
