Does anyone else drive themselves crazy whilst waiting for their pending post to be approved? I submitted for the first time yesterday and am so anxious to have people finally be able to read it. I know it says an average of 3-7 days pending. What has been the shortest time you've waited? I know the admins are obviously very busy with their real lives so i will wait patiently for them to read my work. I can't wait to release the stories from my mind

It definitely takes a few days usually, just be patient.

You may want to try [Removed], they usually post same day.

Shortest time between submission and posting I've encountered was about an hour and a half. It was a contest entry. And, no, after nearly 1,000 posted stories, I don't sit on pins and needles while they're pending. I do get a little antsy when they haven't posted in four days--and this is because that usually means they fell in the cracks in the posting process and I'm going to have to ask what happened to them.

1. you get used to it with more experience

2. the way to overcome the impatience is to work on new stories in the meantime.

Unless you wrote your story in 23 minutes, you might want to give Laurel a break. You may have been one of hundreds to have posted that day. Also. keep in mind that 'new' authors tend to get a little more scrutiny than established authors. And that seems fair to me.

Good luck with the readers. :)

One thing that helps is to have a disclaimer that all characters are fictional and over the age of 18.

Time compresses and expands. With first submissions, time slows to 1/10 normal speed. Delays are interminable. After a few submissions, your time sense relaxes. Pretty soon you're lackadaisical. "Oh, that one's up? Fine. Hemm, how does the next scene go?"

The trick: You write something and submit it. It posts. That's it, it's done. Over. Finished. For the first few months you'll sweat over votes but you'll (hopefully) lose that obsession too. Forget time; forget brownie points; write to make yourself happy. Post your work and move on to the next. Your future awaits.

Ahh, but when you are releasing a series and are waiting to post the next three you finished in a somewhat resonable way, no matter what it's frustrating to sit through, n'cest pas?

I can cope with waiting for a story to go up (though I do hit refresh pretty often, because when it *does* go up I like to track the stats).

My impatience is more around posting - once I've finished the first pass through I want to submit it and get the gratification of having a new story up, when what I really need to be doing is editing and waiting for feedback from my beta readers.
